The Munster hurling round robin works because its cut throat and nearly every game is a rivalry. A very specific mix which no other round robin in GAA will have
It’s unique.
The jewel in the crown.
The Leinster championship needs to be rolled into the layge and the Munster Final crown the All Ireland winner
If there’s a change at half back I’d think it would be CON for Byrnes. He’s not lightning but it would improve pace. I’d worry about him in the air against the Clare wing forwards but maybe a horses for courses pick for the Waterford game.
I think we absolutely need CON in the starting team and I actually think we need English starting too. CON isn’t lightning but he’s quicker than most of our middle eight and has loads of running in him. English is the most obvious replacement for Casey but I’d be tempted to start him midfield. He is lightning and would add huge energy and pace to cover the backs.
The hope is we will work out way back to top form like last year but the concern is we become an old team overnight and by the time we make those changes it’s too late.
I think lads seriously overate subs coming on when everyone is tired.
English had a habit of fading out of games too with doon. I’d keep him for 25 minutes at the end.
Would you call it a habit? I think that’s unfair. He’s young and hasn’t built up stamina yet. DOD used disappear after 50 minutes, he is a different animal now.
I do think we need some youth and energy into the team, CON and English bring that.
Look at the scoring Limerick done in 20 minutes v Clare.
We were leading by 4 in cork with a few minutes left.
We are still putting up big totals. We just aren’t as good defensively. Quaid has a made a few fine saves already.
I do think we need our players closer together in defence and defend in groups. You aren’t going to make these lads run quicker. It has to be a team thing.
Before the watershed?
Risky
Family flowers only please.
I think I heard on the radio there that it’ll be shown on the RTÉ News Now channel.
Bang on… Cork did it in 2019. Clare have played a version of it too, particularly last year in GGs when Taylor and Rodgers in particular came in from the sides and killed us winning breaking ball. The fact we didn’t react v Cork was bizarre - we’d seen it before. The wind helped second half more than any tactical change.
I don’t think there is any issue with Hannon under puckouts tbh, or at least not one that putting Hayes there will fix. The damage that Cork did was on puckouts that were going well over the half back line and almost landing on Dan Morrissey with their wing and corner forwards swarming onto breaking ball. It was almost a carbon copy of the first half of the 2021 Munster Final actually.
I wouldn’t be getting to concerned. There will be a reaction on Sunday from Limerick. End of the day, we still bate Cork by 6 points in the second half below in PuC and could have won but for a black card and penalty decision that might not be given again in the championship.
O’Donoghues take down of Kehoe in Thurles in the first half was more of a goal scoring chance in my opinion. Stack was involved in making the calls for both which is disappointing in terms of consistency.
Effectively a knock out Munster semi-final at home this Sunday. Take that all day at the outset of the championship.
Limerick long-term injuries in the John Kiely era: Shane Dowling retired at 26 due to knee & other injuries. Richie English 2x cruciate ligament injuries. S.Finn 2x cruciate injuries. Casey brothers - one cruciate ligament injury each, plus long-term knee (Mike) & ankle (Peter) injuries. Cian Lynch (hamstring & ankle, 2022), Declan Hannon (knee, 2023). Other cruciate ligament injuries in the Kiely era include Paul Browne, Richie McCarthy, Barry Murphy, Jimmy Quilty, and Brian O’Grady. Murphy also missed the bulk of the 2019 season after picking up a hamstring tear against Waterford. A miracle we’ve managed to win as much with enough injuries to keep a small hospital busy.
Next man up kid.
Positive reports on O’Donovan and Mike Casey.
Been some horrendous luck though alright.
And fellas be giving our about the Rubby
The hurlers wont be struggling to remember their own names in 10 years. Thats the difference
