What a bizarre view. The marauding AOS who was creating goal chances, notwithstanding his poor decision making, is not the same as 3 points. What evened it up would be theblatant penalty not given to COC. Or Morgan not getting a black card evened it up. Or the fact he let Tyrone players continually touch the ball on the ground (he let both sides, maybe it was Tyroneâs determination to be on the ground meant he favoured them and there was more of them for Tyrone).
The non implementation of the black card rules by the ref suited Tyrone more, and more power to them. They fully deserved the win. They had a plan, stuck to it and brought intensity to match it.
They are still a very limited side. But this win should help them have a chance of staying up.
OâSe didnât create that goal chance, it was handed to him by Peter Hughes, and I canât recall many if any goal chances Mayo had up to then.
McNamee could have gone for a black card but then so could Jason Doherty in the first half for a very similar tackle.
Tyrone have a good base of talent to work from. Donnelly, the two Cavanaghs, Harte, McCurry, McNamee, McMahon. They wonât win the All-Ireland but have enough talent to get to an All-Ireland quarter-final and maybe a semi-final if the draw goes their way like in 2013.
Their problems will likely be in getting enough scores to win matches come the summer as they need more strength in the forward department. Certainly a good win for them confidence-wise, their best win since the 2013 championship in fact.

It was Mayo who were the limited team today.
I told you we had the backs to more than handle Mayoâs forwards and they did that.

Agree re: Doherty, but Tyrone sub (big lad, red hair), the no. 5 and Morgan all should have gone.
The high tackle around the neck is going completely unpunished in all games now. Monaghan midfielder should have gone as well early in that game.
Cork-Monaghan is a very decent game btw.
Cadogan clearly benefitting from choosing football.

Cadogan played well last week but by Christ he need to sort that hair out.
But Hughes fairly skins him for a goal! Lovely drop-kicked finish from the Scotstown man.
This must be the first time for many years that Monaghan have played in Castleblaney. Some great championship matches played there back in the glory days of the Ulster championship in the early 90s. Great to see Paul Finlay still at the centre of things for Monaghan. What a servant, what a footballer.

Ya, dived in alright. Clever from Hughes though. Very good battle.
Mone had to go there, no idea what he is complaining about
Ian McGuire is showing quite a few glimpses of his talent the last 2 weeks. Growing into his size. The benefit of Walsh moving on is his quicker promotion.
I like this ref though. Made a few mistakes, but very little messing and doesnât want to be centre of attention like all those Laois and Sligo cunts.
Colm Oâ Neill and Conor McManus are serious operators. Both in brilliant form. No messing forwards, little fanning about out of either of them either.
