Ye didnât get promoted. Ye got reinstated to hurling.
While the current system certainly has its flaws I have yet to see a better proposal being put forward. The two tiers of 8 a few years ago was a disaster, division led to a lot of one sided, poor quality games which did no sides any favours
The hurlers obviously as the footballers never play outside Croke Park.
It took a Kilkenny and Cork man to nearly drive hurling out of Laois, further examples of the traditional counties trying to ringfence the game.
Mickey mouse competition unless you get to the final.
Indeed pal⌠See you in June for a few beers.
and Limerick will bear no resemblence to the team that couldnât get out of division 1b. Why? because championship is where itâs at.
ssshhhhhhh. Glas doesnât know yet.
who was the Kilkenny man
an offaly man had a go too

Brendan Fennelly. The Offaly man was Cody like in comparison to the other two.
was their ever a league format that satisfied all the counties?? I doubt it. Cos there is always some county relegated or failing to get promoted that has a gripe no matter who you structure it. this whole debate about the format of the league has got fairly tiresome.
I cant recall as much griping years back in the old 4 divisions of 8 teams system??? maybe there was but I cant recall??
You canât make a non-traditional hurling county into a hurling county (Dublin excepted, but thatâs a special case).
I also donât necessarily buy the argument that the Wex/Offallies of this world will be killed off as hurling counties if they are not playing the big boys every year. Waterford dropped all the way to the old Div 3 back in the 80âs, thatâs out of the top 16. In a little over a decade they were well on their way to being a contender. Wexford, Offaly and even Laois could do the same. Underage is where the work will be done, not at Senior.

Its not really. If the same amount of money and resources was pumped into hurling in Antrim for example as there has been put in Dublin hurling over the past decade I would expect them to make similar strides.
Theyâd be even more competitive , they have hurling strongholds up there that match those anywhere . All they need is some support and resources applied. They also have a city and employment prospects to hold players unlike Offaly and Laois do
Plus they would be a lot harder than the softies and junkies from the Pale.
TBF hasnât Croker been pumping huge amounts of money into hurling in counties like Antrim, Westmeath, Laois etc for the past 5-6 years. Obviously not as much as Dublin, but still plenty.
Huge? Link please.
âHugeâ is hyperbole but wasnât there a plan put in place specifically for these counties a few years back?
I could find a link but Iâm not that arsed. Its hardly my imagination.

Was it something along the lines of work away down there in the lower division until ye âdevelopâ enough to beat the big boys?
