Magic and Larry were huge in fairness. The NBA had a trash reputation by the 1980s because of all the cocaine. Places like Boston were also still very racist and didnāt even give that much of a shit about their early NBA titles. Bird got a certain demo paying attention and Magic was a superstar. They were both superstars really and reignited the rivalry, but it did have its limits.
Jordan took it to another level in the US and internationally.
The fact he didnāt lose a series decider doesnāt mean the level of competition was low. Loads of players had day jobs and there was fewer than. 10 teams for most of his career.
Thatās fair enough he moved it on but what sports has less money in it as time passes - basketball, American football, soccer, rugbyā¦ I cant think of one.
But so what. Jerry Krause made the same excuse in 1987. He said Jordan was paid well off the court so it was implied he should take a discount, why?
I didnāt say Jordan was the only one but heās a sportsman first and foremost. I said it before that Jordan was at his peak at a different time but he still had and has no obligation to speak out on issues. LeBron James can do that all he wants but it really doesnāt matter. Kids frankly donāt care for that and if you want to make false idols of sports problem thatās who it is to.
Jordan was more of an ideal for children in the 1990s than LeBron James. Adults might like to think that LeBron is nicer because he speaks out but kids donāt care. That isnāt what the draw power is to him and nor should it be. Theyāre athletes.
I never mentioned transcendence you fcuk wit. I donāt care if Jordans been to uncle Tom cabin off bird avenue or even up to the shopping centre for that matter . I just educated you on NBA african American stars on good cheez before Netflix Jordan!
