Are you saying that adults should not be allowed to have consensual sex with whoever they want?

It’s funny how a woman who has sex with strangers gets judged negatively and is labelled “promiscuous”, but a man who does it is seen as admirable, and I mean “funny” in terms of it being perverse and misogynistic, not in terms of it being humorous.

I’m saying you are taking risks when you go back to the house of a stranger you just met for that purpose, particularly with drink on board. It’s a choice that has risks associated with.

That’s an old hobby topic of feminists , the old women = slut & man = slut .

To be honest in the vast majority of cases where is heard a woman called a floosy , slut , slapper or a tramp the accused is a woman .

There is “risk” attached to driving a car, walking to the shop, going for drinks in town, or having a shower.

There is “risk” attached to every sort of human activity one can think of, so let’s get that little red herring out of the way.

Are you saying that adults should not be allowed to have consensual sex with whoever they want?

Because that appears to be the jist of what you’re saying.

Your post doesn’t make much grammatical sense, so maybe you might clarify what you’re trying to say.

There is quite obviously a large degree of misogyny in the different treatment of men and women who have sex with different partners.

There is quite obviously a very large degree of misogyny in Hook’s comments.

The vast majority of negative comment I have heard about promiscuous women comes from women .

Hook is a bombastic oaf .

This can go both ways.

There are more risks for a woman engaging in casual sex with men she doesn’t know both ways. Women need to be aware of how the choices and risks they take may impact on their lives in this regard.

Similarly men have as well. There are plenty of cases of women making rape allegations as they got too drunk the night before and can’t remember what they did. Men similarly need to exercise caution in this regard.

You’re viewing this in an Utopian light, people have a locus of control over the positions they put themselves in this regard. The fact is the world is a flawed existence, there are rapists, murderers and paedos out there and if you’re going around making reckless choices than can put you in these situations there is a greater likelihood that you will get raped, murdered, kidnapped, assaulted etc. That is just life but the snowflake generation lack.

You have less chance of being victims of these crimes if you exercise clear judgement.

You’re a married man, you treat your wife disgracefully (you’ve admitted as much plenty of times) you bring her along to watch you fucking hookers, your internet persona is a disgusting human being.
Have sex with who you want, but your morals are in the gutter and as long as you’re a hypocrite about it I’ll reserve the right to call you out

There is risk attached with going back to the house of a person or people you barely know and just met, particularly with drink on board. You knowing nothing about that person or those people and going in behind closed walls with these people has a large degree of risk attached.

I would not consider this wise behaviour.

Less educated women are not immune from becoming brainwashed by the patriarchal nature of much public discourse.

I’m still not really sure what point you’re trying to make.

#No means no

The brilliant Justine McCarthy knocking it out of the park here on #marian.

Would you not give Chris a twist this morning. Surely will be interesting

The girl had consensual sex with Olympics star Ieuan Lloyd after he brought her home from a nightclub – but he “abandoned” her and Otto Putland, also an international swimmer, entered his room and jumped into the bed, the court heard.

The teenager allegedly told Mr Putland she did not want to sleep with him, but she claims he ignored her, so she ran to the bathroom where she sent a message to her friend – then “blacked out”.

She woke up back in the bed where Mr Putland, 23, was on top of her and having sex with her against her will, the court was told.

How did she black out?

Is it allegation still.

Most of these types of cases are tricky as alcohol means little or no memory of things. The “black out” could be she fell asleep

Big issue with defendants being named before a conviction.

It just seems a bit odd that she runs to the bathroom scared and texts a friend but then “blacks out”.

What would cause you to black out?
Too much drink?
What was she doing back in presumably the same bed after that incident? Surely the first thing a person would do is to get the fuck out of that house in that situation.
If she blacks out then presumably it could be argued she was in no position to give consent (with the original guy) in the first place given the level of drink she had on board.

This is true.

But Hook’s comments are quite clearly relevant to any rape case which occurs in a bedroom or indeed any rape which occurs in a bedroom.

They are symbolic of his general attitude towards rape and towards women.

It’s the classic misogynistic trope “she was asking for it”.

There is also a strong culture of false rape allegations now as well.

That’s where it gets tricky. At that level of drunkeness any memory is hazy, flawed if there is a memory. Can you give consent? On other hand in a social situation both people likely to be very drunk and drink does not absolve of guilt even though arguably in no position to form a criminal intent.

It’s a messy situation and there are nuances and grey areas and not as clear cut or black and white as some people suggest.

In theory anybody having sex with a drunk person risks a rape allegation. I have heard of lads immediate whatsapping a girl after the event and hopefully a reply comes which closes off the possibility of a remorse based allegation.

Hooks problem is he tried to cover off an issue of personal responsibily and modern morality with an actual rape trial and in that situation unless somebody is very articulate and skilled the two issues get confused and you end up looking like victim blaming.

leads to outrage from people who probably never even heard the piece and are reacting to media and social media reports of it.

And that’s the issue with casual sex, particularly under the influence of alcohol.

You are opening up yourself to all sorts of risks if you make that choice.
