Mortified for @Perez2017 that he didnt stick to his guns on this.
Lee playing the two sides off each other to get a few bob more. Why not
Tis all the one who gets the job, you can’t make a silk purse from a sow’s ear.
T isn’t about winning the World Cup mate, it’s about giving it a good lash. There’s loads of examples of teams punching above their weight, even getting to WC SFs and such, because of a good manager that knew how to knock a tune out of the lads he had. The right man is the difference between a good run in a tournament and not coming within an ass’s roar of qualifying in the first place.
Ah we’re not that bad. We have a very promising keeper and centre-forward in Bazunu and Ferguson. We have a couple of quality centre-backs, Nathan Collins chief amongst them. The centre of the midfield is weak and we should bypass it in a kind of Liverpool 2017-2020 lite. 3 workhorses in there. Plenty of trickery and pace on the wings. Ogbene is a breath of fresh air there. Moran could be another one. We have a promising group at present tbh. It’s a pity they wasted 3 years on a manager out of his depth.
The fucking fan with a typewriter telling us how complicated the story is!
Sammie Smodics is the hottest player in world football right now
Top scorer in the Championship. A fine asset to the next incumbent manager.
Another 2 good goals during the week
Carsley or Lennon and I’ll be happy mate.
Are people really going to be happy with Lennon? Jesus I know we have limitations on who we can attract but come on
I’d be happy with Lennon over Carsley. He’d get the Ra to blackmail Conor Bradley into declaring for us.
He’s also beaten Barcelona.
What’s the alternative?
What kind of money have the FAI to spend on a manager?Sure even championship managers are on huge bucks
The RA would have to blackmail FIFA.
In the history of humanity there have been more difficult tasks accomplished than that.
Carsley back in the picture for Ireland
Speaking of managerial chases, it’s remarkable how fast-moving an otherwise glacial pursuit went in the last week. About a week ago, Lee Carsley was being talked about in Ireland as almost a certainty to be next Ireland manager. That changed in the space of 24 hours, as sources within the Football Association were adamant their highly-rated under-21 coach was going nowhere. Neil Lennon was then being talked about as the next certainty and talks had gone fairly well. There was some anticipation that might be sorted by Monday but the Football Association of Ireland have decided to keep looking. There’s now a sense, once again, that Carsley isn’t completely off the table. There are still lines of dialogue, not to mention his former Irish international teammates lobbying for the one-time midfielder to get the job. The Irish federation would have to considerably up their offer, though. Word reaches this newsletter that they spoke to a few bigger names - and one huge name - only for the candidates to be put off by the financial offer. It is understood to be around £300,000 to £400,000 a year, although there may now be more room for manoeuvre.
We’ve missed out on Warnock. We need to move NOW to secure Big Sam
Lennon was touted for the Aberdeen job but now that Warnock has the job till end of season, is that because Lennon is a shoe in for Ireland?
