but how do you propose this can happen?
whatās the average attendance at Fir Park / Pittodrie? 10k absolute max?
There is no money at all in the game over there and no reason why anyone would want to invest in the clubs, the standard is personified in that each year a Scottish side cannot make the groups stages of the Europa Cup whereas you see teams from Bulgaria, Moldova, Israel and Kazakstan now regularly featuring,
Itās dumb to think that Rangers and Celtic dont exist in a type of symbiotic relationship, so if there is no Rangers, what will happen? Celtic will have the league won every year by January, that guarantees them CL qualifier qualification, they make the group stages and are eliminated, is that cash sufficient to keep on bringing in quality players?
The best thing for Celtic is a strong Rangers, this will at least give a 2 team league from the current meaningless procession , raise attendances as games against the other 9 teams will take on a signifigance and the 4 derby games a year will at least add some relevance to the league.

If higher average attendances are required for success then how have teams from Bulgaria, Moldova, Israel and Kazakhstan made it to the Europa League?
In Israel Kazakhstan and Cyprus i know there has been significant investment in the top 2 or 3 clubs in each league with the intention of making a (relatively) competitive league with the goal of attracting good foreign players, nurturing local footballers and have regular representation in the CL from the country (even tho its a long way off yet), - the maccabi Tel Aviv / Cruyff plan tho i think is working very well, similar to APOEL Nicosia a few years ago , that has wobbled a bit recently however but Cyprus still will have 2/3 sides each year in Europa league groups but the Israeli and Cypriot leagues are good competitive systems.
Attendances in Cyprus and Israel id say are on a par if not worse than scotland so i take your point that attendances are not everything and i certainly didnt mean it that way but the income from them is helpful and the leagues are very competitive.
In a totally non competitive league a team cannot improve, they can only suffer as they can allow their standards drop to the level of those they play, youāve seen how bad Europa League games can be and at the moment if Celtics main domestic rivals are not even at that standard i dont see how that team can improve or attract more quality players unless however there is a bottomless pit of cash.
thatās the problem right there
Papers reporting that Sammy and Ledley wonāt be renewing their contracts beyond this season. If that is the case we would be better off just selling them in January and allowing some of the fringe players and youths state their case.
I concur. I think theyāll both be missed, and weāve found it difficult to sign players of their calibre, though neither have played well this season, particularly Samaras.
Great article on the Green Brigade.

This young gentleman is training with us this week.
Lustig gone for 4 months
It seems like Celtic have been managing Lustigās hip problems for around 18 months now. Heās often been substituted late on in high intensity Champions League matches over the past two seasons and heās missed the odd league game here and there too. Heās had a procedure on both hips and I imagine it made sense to do it given weāre out of Europe and we want to be fair to him in terms of his fitness with a World Cup on the horizon too.
The Scotsman were reporting last weekend that Celtic have offered Samaras a Ā£16k per week contract. They suggested he was going to reject it and that his current deal is at Ā£18k per week. Gregory Ioannidis was his agent but heās been making all sorts of obscure tweets over the past few weeks implying 1) that Samaras has replaced him and 2) that heās going elsewhere.
Joe Ledley made his 150th appearance for Celtic today and was quoted in the match programme about how much heās enjoying his spell at Celtic and how he hopes thereās many more games to come. Of course, he could just be referring to many more games in the second half of the season before pissing off on a Bosman in the summer. We signed him on a free so I guess we canāt complain when weāre on the other side of the coin.
We still need a prolific striker in the Hooper mould, as Kris Commons said in the wake of our defeat at Barcelona last week.
Two superb finishes by Tony Watt in Lierseās massively important derby victory yesterday. His pace, power, direct running and finishing would really benefit Celtic next season if he applies himself:

Some post-match words from Tony:
That was a glorious challenge around the 2:18 mark :D:clap:
That is the greatest Christmas present ever:clap:
Neil Lennon was forced to leave Tynecastle today when scouting Aberdeen & St Johnstone (League Cup semi-final at neutral venue) after being spat on and having coins/missiles thrown at him.
Pity he didn`t get a few digs aswell. Ginger cunt
Who was he scouting?
