Agree fully. I maintained Wd couldnât win the AI without more variety to their game. But to change it completely yesterday when Plan A wasnât working as simpletons here keep saying was impossible.
Where i would find fault with management for Wd was the fact that going for goals was not drilled into the team. As @Fagan_ODowd pointed out astutely last night, that first Maurice score was a great opening yet he never glanced at goal. That same ball to Reid or Hogan was at least a shot on goal.
In the second half Dunford ( to his credit he got forward from his 3rd midfielder role ) came onto lovely breaking ball twice at pace, yet never kept the head down & asked a question of the KK FB line or Murphy between the posts.
If Derek McGrath can drill that hunger & eye for goal into this bunch then yes they most certainly can drive on next season & compete. He has in fairness tightened up the backline which a potent KK would clearly tear asunder normally, now he must make his forwards think about raising more green flags upfront.

Never suggested completely changing it but trying a two man full forward line might have been a start.

The goal they did concede yesterday was not a case of being overrun, but a case of 2 defenders going for the one ball. A harsh result to that mistake.

This what? KK are reigning AI champions. WD in experience terms are miles behind, shur some lads said theyâd be bet out the gate beforehand. Their style did stymie KK to a certain extent, but their own lack of eye for goal really did make it too much of an ask.
