Downes got injured the week after the league final Chewy, hardly trained betwwen that and the Wâford game. Was obviously struggling in the last 15 mins.
Re the Corbett/Shefflin/Canning debate it would have to be Shefflin, as others have said he sets the tempo for KK. Hopefully he will stay fit and we see will a cracking AI final. (cant see anyone beating either KK or Tipp before the final, unless Galway get KK and hit a 2005 style day again.)
On the Cork/Galway game, I cant believe that people are saying that Galway are superior hurlers. They are miles ahead of Cork in terms of preperationâŚyes Strength and Conditioning again. They have Tannion, Gantley and Alan Kerins in the forwards. Nobody is arguing that these are any better than Niall McCarthy, Ben O Connor, Horgan, O Sullivan? What they did do was physically dominate their opponent. Was very impressed by how have turned their year around and Iâd fully expect them to beat Wâford.
Watched the Sunday Game last night, Henderson criticisng Cork defenders for trying to play their way out of the defence instead of driving it long. Obviously didnât see the game, the majority of ball just driven out came straight back again, Cullinane must have had sore arms on Sat night. the amount of ball he pucked.
you can pick individuals out of any team who are skillful. the point is that overall galway have far better players than cork. Ben OâConnor is a shadow of the player he was.
What changes has Lar Corbett made that have turned him into the best forward in the country at the moment?
While he showed flashes of brilliance in the past, itâs only the past 2/3 years he has really asserted himself as a top top forward? Is it more to do with improved quality around him or improvements he has made himself?
He hasnât had hamstring injury for a few years now. The guy that sorted that for him deserves a lot of credit.
@ Kev. If you accept that the strength and conditional set up of the footballers is top notch, do you think it would have changed the result of the galway match if this person was in charge of the hurlers?
We simply do not have enough players of the ability required to be competitive at this point in time and i dont see this changing anytime soon. A lot of variables/factors go into making a successful team, fitness, manager, selectors, luck etc but by far and away the most important is the players. You you had DOG/Cody etc and the best Fitness lads in charge of that Cork team it would not make them all ireland contenders.
Ah we do, they have regressed due to a shit set up and also i believe a drop in hunger due to this and the strikes. This is all about the game saturday, no way would Galway have wiped Cork in the fashion they did had a football type regime been in charge. Had he 2-3 years with them theyâd be beating Galway, probably handy enough. Its not just the physical side either, its the mental approach. Galway started that game 6 up the last day because of the lack of faith in the game plan and management.

Spot on, the thinking on here is off and ill informed.
Agree on the Oâ Connors, but they are no longer in the top 15 hurlers in Cork. They shouldnât be on the team.
I think he worked with sprinter Gary Ryan who used hold the Irish 100m record?
I first really noticed Corbett in the 2001 drawn and replayed semi-finals against Wexford when David OâConnor snuffed him out in both games. My how their respective careers have diverged since that senior debut season for each of them.

Limerick v Dublin 2pm
Galway v Waterford 4pm
Nice one.
Suits me lovely.
I imagine the schedulers took that into consideration when settling on the time and venue.
Obviously.
Iâm a great GAA man.
The absolute bastards. Wouldâve much preferred the 4pm slot. I hate getting out of bed early.
Good excuse to drink cans on the train though.
We donât give a willy,
We donât give a wank
We are the Limerick
NORTH BANK
Delighted it on in Thurles. Hopefully the same result as in 2009. Can Galway finally beat Waterford? I think they will. Should be a cracking day.

Christ almighty. Why not thurles. That place in cork is a shithole. Some planning by croke park as well.
What
Whats the point living in Dublin if I donât get to stroll home after a Sunday in Croke Park.
Pairc UĂ Chaoimh ffs what a shithole.
JLS!!!
For fuck sake. Are they not one of those x-factor type bands?
Are they actually playing Croke Park? They played Thomond Park only a few weeks ago.
Some joke having them in Cork, although I suppose they couldnât take any chances that a team might end up with home advantage for the semi so they took the safe option and fixed it for a non hurling county.
Sorry lads, I just made that up in an attempt to annoy some of you.
