A fine young team just won a national title. Why are you so bitter?
I was being genuine. I enjoyed your original reply.
My apologies!
Thanks very much lads much appreciated.
Fuck sake. I wanted this lad to torture us for a decade just to make us feel something again.
Instead I’ll have to post infrequent updates on his progress on AFL threads for the next four years until he snaps his hamstring off the bone and comes home crocked.
Minor gone from Thursdays to Fridays and u20s gone from Fridays to Wednesdays, presumably to avoid any potential complications with the 60 hour rule.
Minor All Ireland repeat on TG4 now cc @Locke
Which one was it? 1984??
Minor and under 20 championships get underway within the next two weeks.
Kilkenny are the team to beat at minor which a large core from last years team underage and I hear they area physically dominant side now that their main men are a year older.
Tipp seem to be the side to beat at under 20s although there will be a number of solid sides in the competition.
Clare minors will be down Paul Rodgers through suspension for the first round and I believe that Liam Murphy is an injury doubt but they are seen as a good group and should be competitive at the very least.
The under 20s are taking shape and should be string from 1-7 but think they might lack a bit of depth in the forwards compared to tipp especially if one or two big names don’t fire. Ronan Keane and Jamie Moylan have been injured but should be back in time - I don’t believe any of last years minors who lost to Kilkenny in extra time of an all Ireland semi final are in contention to start so they have plenty of decent hurlers. Seanie McMahon’s young fella who would have been on the Celtic challenge team three years ago is pushing hard for a starting wing back slot.
Tipp have a serious minor team supposedly.
Some outstanding players at the grade this year across the board who stood out last year as u16s.
Cork very weak at U-20, have the “pick” of three poor Minor teams.
Not sure what we are like at Minor, but heard KK, Tipp, Waterford and Clare are strongest.
A repeat of last year’s u20s final between tipp and offaly would be no surprise. Both have lads after getting plenty senior experience.
Galway travelled down to ye last night. Tight game. Think ye beat us by a point. We were missing the Athenry pres fellas.
Corksfinestboy will be cock ahoop.
Munster U20 Champ
Tipperary 0-15
Clare 0-14
Clare missed a goal and point chance at one end in injury time before Tipp went down the field for the winner
Does anyone know whether the Eugene Carey or the Michael Foley is the A competition for U-16 hurling nowadays?
I think one of them may be a former U-17 competition that was moved when the minor went U-17?
The four lesser sides in Munster get great value out of that preliminary round robin series.
Thought that was an strange result.
Louth are flying it with the colleges at the moment. They’ve turned some 4 second levels schools into football academies and they’re drilling it in a big way.
Be interesting to see how it fares out.
