Tipp left that after them in a big way. To compound their 18 wides (some howlers) they were 3 clear with 2 minutes injury time to go and failed to close the door on Limerick.
The goalie didn’t exactly cover himself in glory for the goal that came from about 25yds. Was very saveable.

They’ll know by now that there’s one they left behind them.

I was at that 1984 drawn final in Thurles as well. That Tommy Lannon goal actually put Kilkenny a point ahead for what would have been an act of utter daylight robbery. Limerick went straight down the field and got an equalising point from Brian Stapleton to force the draw with the last puck of the game.

Lessons will need to be learned though. That’s two Underage All Ireland’s this year where Tipp were the best team in it but didn’t win them because of poor shooting and poor decision making, the majority of which took place into the City End goal in the TUS Gaelic Grounds. That just shouldn’t be happening regardless of tricky winds.

Plenty reasons to remain optimistic and four or five exciting players in that team but that was an All Ireland left behind for sure.

Thought the Limerick keeper was excellent under the high ball and made the saves that were the difference.

They did and they didn’t. Thete was some dreadful wides on both sides. I think limerick had 15/16 wides as well. Thst said tipp had two chances coming down the strait to take handy points but went for goals and butchered them.
Overall a very enjoyable game and a kind of stro back in time where mistakes were plentiful but the hurling was pure and honest

I don’t think you can criticize them. They beat Limerick twice this year. They won 6 games in a row.
The wind was atricous today. They scored goals all year and were right to back themselves. I won’t knock a 15 year old going for a goal. Had a great chance in the first half too. Thems the breaks.
Were beaten by a point. A goal and a point in extra time. A fine margin. We might get more players off the team today than the 2022. You never know. They were the team best team all year and lost one final. Plenty to build on there.

Jaysus was that the last one ye won. I was at the drawn game in 84. Limerick had it wrapped up and Kilkenny being the divils they are clawed their way back into it and got a last minute goal to draw it from Tommy Lannon (or Tommy Lennon as @backinatracksuit would have him).

The only way to win a final like that, that Limerick outfit are built on a foundation of honest endeavour and never say die attitude, the character to respond to that square ball goal(deja vu from round robin meeting) and clinch victory from the jaws of defeat when going 3 down late on. Thankfully they won off of that will to win & equalising goal and not a controversial one had the initial major stood.

I thought young Eamon O’Sullivan and Foley really stood up in the second half when leaders up front were required. Xavi thundered into it last 20 started getting on a load of ball. Credit to Mullins he coached our school soccer team to a Munster title 20 odd years ago and is excellent at preparing his sides for finals.

Yeah the key is what happens next.

Tipp’s U20 team next year should be very strong with so many from this year underage again. Hopefully some of today’s crop can step up too.

We’ll be well stocked for corner backs anyway with both incumbents still underage and the two from today looking the part. Collins in particular is a rolls royce.

Who is in charge of the U20 team next year will be interesting.

I thought i saw a tg4 interview with Cummins after the munster final this year where he said we had our go. I thought he meant as a management.
But we’ll see. I wouldn’t be a fan of that style of play. Don’t think it suits the players.
I’d like to see Woodlock moved up.
