They were abject against Clare before then sending off.Barely saw of the Limericks, who are the underage whipping boys of Munster these days. The selection is all over the shop but maybe the players arenā€™t there.

I think the challenge cork face is that the 2017 to 2021 minor groups had a lot of very solid athletic hurlers and not too many passengers but the problem now is that they have loads of depth and potential panelists but not too many lads who are standout I/C hurlers from those groups. Realistically Joyce and Connolly would be the only two from outside the county would be seen as real quality senior hurlers.

Bryan Oā€™Sullivan was excellent against Clare at under 20s two years ago and i was hoping he might kick on, but Cork probably have half a dozen lads of a similar age and ability which makes it hard to integrate young lads unless they hit the ground running. Even keeping your place on the extended panel year in year out is tough.

Rob Downey has been a regular for 5 years yet still isnā€™t anything other than fairly average. How would Eoin Roche, Tommy Oā€™Connell or Millerick look if they got the same opportunities?

For all Corkā€™s success Iā€™d say a Clare team of the same vintage 20 to 25 come the end of this year would be a very even match. But if the 16th to 30th hurlers from the same age bracket played Iā€™d expect Cork to win by a point a man if not more.

Does any of that really matter with Cork though? If they have the right set up they invariably hit new levels?

Maybe but too much depth can be a killer too. Lads get jettisoned who in other counties would be persevered with and allowed to develop.

Wont happen. Theyā€™re only waiting to get rid of Ryan to give Ben Oā€™Connor the gig. And apparently Diarmuid O"Sullivan is rattling a few cages behind the scenes as well

Nail on the head

That is true but Cork have equally a tendency to fall into the bracket - Weā€™ll tell you our best team after weā€™re beaten.

Clare winning 1-8 to 0-4 at HT. They havd scored 1-6 without reply after an even start to the game, both teams have had plenty of wides.

Ref probably helping Clare slightly in the steps department.

Youā€™d know Ryanne midfield has senior experience, he stands out a mile athletically.

Jack O Neill, Collins & Gunning very good also. Iā€™d say theyā€™ll give Tipp lots to worry about.

Waterford really missing Patrick Fitzgerald up front.

Itā€™s fairly pedestrian stuff. Waterford had a couple if goal chances early on which they needed to take.

Gunning has been excellent- must have turned over 4 or 5 balls in the tackle and burst out with them, picking lads pockets.

Clare have pushed on now, Waterford have been very poor over this campaign.

They were the second best team in Munster three years ago with a full forward line of Fitzgerald, Jack Twomey and Peter Cummins.
Cummins has been a huge loss with injury and Fitzgerald is unavailable. Twomey good ball winner but is still one sided thus not much of a scoring threat.

Youā€™d see more at a Junior B Club game.

How Waterford are playing two games 100 miles away is some joke today.

Ha, this was happening years ago for other counties and no one have a fuck then.

The ref here in wexford making some cock up. Galway man going through and fouled, ref lets advantage on, Galway lad taking ages and not really making much ground, as he passes he blows the whistle. Galway lad catches it, and takes a shot on goal and it goes in. And then he gives the goal even tho the defenders and keeper had stopped. Galway the better side all told

Waterford requested the move to facilitate some players who were sitting exams yesterday

James Organ at full forward makes a difference- gives them a decent target man inside. Nice to win that comfortably with a few of the lads like Oā€™Neill and Kilroy who stood out in the last two games having quiet matches.

Hard to believe that Morey is getting minutes for the seniors ahead of Rynne

They have the blinkers on in relation to him and I donā€™t understand why at this point

I think Rynne will ultimately prove to be more of a forward at senior level, not sure he has the capacity yet to grind out a physical game like Lohan or Malone will give you

Leinster minor results very unpredictable. Galway hammering wexford after being hammered themselves by kilkenny.
Wexford beat kk last y week.

Results in the Leinster minor are all over the shop. Kilkenny hammered Galway. Wexford then beat Kilkenny and now Galway beat Wexford by 10 points today.
