Official All Ireland Minor and U20 Hurling & Football Thread (Part 2)

Great scenes. Fair play to Longford. Thats twice they beat Dublin so dublin could have no complaints.

A great win for the Longford boys, they dug it out in the end. Some great tackles and turnovers there in ET

Thatā€™s fantastic. Well done Longford.

Dublin kick outs killed them. Turned over reams of possession. Some lovely footballers on Longford team

F-bomb dropped in his first sentence :man_facepalming:t2:

They conceded two exact points there in ET,long kickouts to Mulligan then onto No 11 and back over the bar

A lesson there for some other leinster counties who prefer to moan about Dublin funding while wallowing in their own mediocrity.

Only saw the extra time . Longford seemed to have a way more natural footballer than Dublin , who didnā€™t seem to know what to do in possession . Fair play Longford

That No 15 for Longford the Hagen lad is a lovely footballer,he mind ye of wee James McCarten

To be fair the problem has been at senior level rather than underage. Offaly, Kildare and Meath have all enjoyed All-Ireland success at underage in recent years but not really built on it as of yet. Iā€™d say the S and C and financial advantages really kick in at senior level. The deep playing pool in Dublin football obviously supplements that. A much needed boost for Longford whoā€™d gone back a bit in recent years.

The s & c thing is an absolute myth. A good s&c coach, willing players and a bit of time and the job is done. The playing pool is an undoubted advantage though.

Longfordā€™s third Leinster minor title this century. Very important these ladsā€™ development is held back once they reach senior by only exposing them to remedial level inter-county football.

Are dubs fancied in either of hurling finals this week? Presume itā€™s that good crop of Offaly players form last year ?

When Dublin played Tyrone in 2017 there was a marked difference in conditioning. Dublin were bouncing off the ground, Tyrone were leaden footed. It wasnā€™t an illusion caused by the scoreboard either. Dublin really were that much fitter. That was Tyrone, not some shambles of a Tal Ben Haim Cup outfit.

Underdogs in u20 after offaly beating us in the round robin.

The minors beat kilkenny comfortably avfew weeks ago in nowlan park so we should be favourites. However kilkenny are hard to beat once never mind twice.

round robindoesnt mean a pile in u20 if the Galway v Dublin games are anything to go by

Galway hammered Dublin in round robin, Dublin won the semi final

Crokes minors played the Longford minors in a challenge a few weeks back and bate them handy enough.

Dublin got out of jail in minor semi v Kildare. Kildare kicked some awful wides

I believe Longford were missing the Melā€™s lads and club minor is year older than county but still stark difference to tonight

Thatā€™s it. They were missing all the Melā€™s lads who were away on a school trip.

Itā€™s a great day for Longford and for football itā€™s a good thing. Shows what can be achieved by a smaller county.
