@Massive_Attack Offaly too i think.
He is in his fuck an offaly fan. Hope the whinging bastards never win another game.
Another powerful speech from Jarlath Burns it must be said. A serious orator.
Cracking win for Offaly today. Wouldnât agree that they were far the better team. Tipp gave away an amount of unnecessary frees at crucial junctures when they had Offaly under pressure. Offalyâs experience of playing in front of massive crowds probably helped.
Brecon Kavanagh is a joy to watch. Bourke was fully deserving of the mom. Has been there best player for last three games. The corner backs were excellent too. Itâs great for them to get over the line after losing two.
Personally thrilled that it might keep a few of our club youngsters from prioritising football for a few years yet.
Hugely significant interview. Should it be a 7 or 8 with one offs but home away and top 4? Its not right for that lad to be denied the proper stage.
Just back from the Marble CityâŚ
Cracking win for the Faithful. Their fans must have outnumbered Tippâs 5:1. Their style of hurling is like a hybrid of Cork â03-â07 and Limerick â18-â24âŚâŚ.they do like to work the ball out but incorporate a running game into it. Tipp by contrast were a little bit more direct in their approach.
I thought it was a funny game in that neither side seemed to dominate for more than ten minutes at a time. Even at 5 points up with 5 mins to go, you were still nervous for Offaly. Bourke and King really carried them through the final 20 minutes. The former caused Tipp rearguard all sorts of trouble when he ran at them. His goal was as good a strike as you will see. Others for Offaly that impressed me were Screeney, Doyle, Egan and Kavanagh. The two corner backs for Offaly were very good I thought, Rurari Kelly had a great battle with Senan Butler throughout. The pace of Kelly is phenomenal.
Tipp will be kicking themselves with the wides in the second half, with the breeze behind them. Middle of the second half they drive 3 or 4 bad wides in a row, Offaly led by 5. McCarthy looked dangerous as ever and an awful lot of ball went down his way in first half. Cathal English might have only scored 0-1 but I thought he was excellent from general play for Tipp.
One thing I didnât understand in the second half is Offalyâs persistence with hitting puckouts to the left side of the pitch. They didnât get much joy down that side, where as Rigney and Spain did a lot of good approach work on the other side. After a very good first half, Screeney was quiet for the opening 20 mins of second period, before coming to life in last ten mins. He won 2 frees and converted both.
Tipp wonât be too despondent. Most of those players are back again next year. Today was all about Offaly though.
I wonder what the post count on premier view was?
Should Michael Duignan be running the country?
If that eejit turns out to be a genius, I donât know how Iâll feel
I think Duignan is probably a lucky general. Iâve seen a good bit of offaly teams from minor down and they are generally poor, so this group looks like an outlier. However there are 10 or 11 players off last nights team that have the potential to be good senior players though a lot of them will need to bulk up a bit.
He should walk off into the sunset now really and let someone else at it. He can always come back when thereâs another good team on the way
You saw the future, some of us saw it a while back but you all see it now
I think youâre being harsh. Theyâve been in 4 all-irelands in 4 years which is some going considering the pick. The faithful fields is up and running and debt free. There is some signs of coaches appearing in schools, etc.
Theyâve miles and miles to go, but he took over some shitshow and at least has everybody pulling in the same direction.
Offalyâs inside line is small in stature, Screeney and Kavanagh particularly so. But they have the hurling, so bulking up is the easy bit.
So impressive from Offaly last night. Nowlan Park again, Tipperary again, all week it felt like destiny could arrive for them.
Against Kilkenny I thought they looked a better outfit than what they were last year. That Cork game probably stood to them no end - that KK team were enormous.
Drspite their size, they are quite physical too - led by midfielders Spain and King in this regard.
Their half backline are a fabulous mix of stylish and tough. Guinan was outstanding I felt and Kavanagh mopped up a world of ball in the first half.
Rigney won some serious ball in the air as he has done consistently this year, and Bourkeâs influence was immense. Doyle had a solid game too - still doesnât look quite himself after injury but heâs a super prospect IMO.
Hard to judge too much from the TV but it seemed that Offalyâs defence was probably aided by Tippâs set up last night. Any Tipp forward seemed to find himself in a 1v2, or 1v3 battle. Tipp boys on PV are deploring the set up but thatâs the way Tipp have lined out all year really. Offaly didnât push up the way the likes of Cork did, and Tipp forwards didnât get any space as a result.
Thereâs no reason why Offaly canât win 2025 too with what should be (on paper) an even stronger team. However, as seen with ourselves this year it doesnât always work out that way. I fancy Clare to have a big year at the grade next year.
Duigan spotted the tide was rising and moved himself into position.
He was commentating on Munster championship games when the Offaly footballers were playing games.
Iâm pretty sure he was still doing that this season when their hurlers were playing.
Duignan does his working 7 days a week before the team emerges into the championship sun. I donât mind that much, albeit a bit odd
But not going to watch your son play championship hurling against your biggest rivals is a very curious one
Seriously?
