Was obvious by half time that he was going to be sent off
Should never have been on the pitch to start with and Gilroy should have taken him off when he got booked.
Heāll be available for the final
Tyrone v Armagh 2005
Absolutely definite free at the end. MacLochlainn was acting up all game and was rightly called on tugging then. Bit naive of Kildare to leave Brogan 1v1 in injury time at the end.
Enjoyable game. Kildare were poor and would have been steeped with a draw. Cahill should have been brought in much earlier. Bastick and Fennell both need an athletic partner.
Some incoherent thoughts:
Excellent match, first really intense game of the football championship.
Kildare persisted in kicking high ball into their forwards for most of the first half, you think they would have learned from Meath against them.
Smith can count himself very unlucky to be taken off, you canāt do anything without decent ball.
Doyle needed to go further up the pitch when Kildare were chasing the game late on.
Dublin dug in well. After Kildareās excellent start to the second half and having the extra man I thought they would kick on and win but they got bogged down. Dublin had Bernard Brogan and nobody else in the Kildare half for most of the second half.
Kildare had success when they ran at Dublin but they didnāt do it enough. The Dublin half back line is weak . McCarthy lost the ball at least three times in the first half, although he did better in the second half and made some good runs down the wingā¦ Brennan stood off for the goal although n fairness there was a free man the overlap. Great finish by Callaghan.
Flynn had an excellent game. Iāve warmed to his efforts over the last year. Great goal and point.
Alan Brogan was Dublinās best player again. Playing great football this year. One horrible wide in the second half but Iāll let him off that.
OāCarroll very solid at full back and the two corner backs did well.
Connolly wasnāt great. Surprised he was taken off so early though.
Dublin did ok at midfield although Kildare probably had the better of it.
Iād bring McManamon into the corner for against Wexford and replace the two wing half backs. Cahill, Henry or OāSullivan if fit are all better than McCarthy and Nolan. My thoughts on OāGara are the same as Tazās.
I have to say that there was some top totty at the match today, especially the ladies in the Kildare jerseyās. Was awful distracting.
Sid, I thought both corner backs did very well with Conlon standing out. Our half back line is very weak, McCarthy got shown up and Brennan I donāt think touched the ball in the first half. Bastick was taught a lesson in midfield and it was telling that the first thing Cahill did when he came on was catch a ball.
I thought Connolly was hard done by today starting in the corner after the display he put in against Laois in the previous match, even though it seems that he needs a couple of chances before he scores a goal.
Bring on Wexford in 2 weeks, think we will win that one and it wont be as close as it was today.
Ref rode Kildareā¦ GAA really need dublin. Cunts
HangBlaa hates Dublin
Andriu (FFS) is a nasty piece of work, with a serious penchant for nipple pinching during games. The weirdo.
+1
at one point alan brogan had a bad wide-that cunt started sledging him- 15 mins later he was going off the pitch wimpring like a bitch
Absolute joke if if that Keith Higgins incident canāt be reviewed.
Indeed. I think most people that were at the game and have capability to see know the score. Seems like RTE and that sneery, arrogant, absolute simpleton from Mayo decided to push a weird agenda.
What are you talking about Bandage? The late free or the Keith Higgins incident?
The qualifiers are a waste of time. Some effort to sort out the chaff.
Iāve come to the conclusion the only reason for the qualifiers at this stage is just to give the weaker counties panels a work out as most of the starting 15 seem to have fucked off to the States by the time they come around, ie Tipperary, etc.
The qualifiers are where All-Ireland Champions are made, ie Down this year.
FOAD mate. That clown from Kildare that came on in the first half and spent the whole game shaping and goading the Dublin players and then committed a clear and blatant foul and that fool from Mayo on RTE started a conspiracy about it. Kildare were jammy as fuck to be that near to Dublin at the end and are vastly overrated. Running, hitting etc can only take you so far. Look at their forward line today. FFS. A horrible team playing a horrible āstyleā and then the shaping on the pitch at the end from āGeezerā. Utterly pathetic. Fuck off and die Kildare āfootballā. Fucking idiot cunts.
Ah thats fucking tremendous
Any thoughts to add on their fans?
The serious crowd trouble that I witnessed as a neutral today was 6.5 of one and 13/2 of the other. The two utter idiot Kildare lads from work sitting behind me were terribly hard work though.
Bandage may well add a few thoughts on the Kildare fans in a āa new lowā¦ā post. Disgraceful scenes in the Canal End today.
Some random thoughts on both Croke Park games that mostly reflect what Taz and Sid have already said:
- OāGara is an idiot. Unlucky first booking but he had no idea how to restrain himself or adjust to his yellow card. Whatever his merits in showing for the ball etc are dwarfed by his stupidity
- Bizarre that Cahill wasnāt brought on earlier. Kildare will be strong with a numerical advantage and having Fennell and Basitick together in midfield was nowhere near mobile enough. Great to have options on the bench and all that but Dublin arenāt good enough to not have Barry Cahill somewhere in the half lines or at midfield.
- Extremely naive from Kildare to leave Brogan isolated against MacLochlainn at the end. Delighted to see the mouthpiece penalised for a blatant foul, ridiculous āanalysisā from RTĆ to question the free.4
- Conlon had plenty of criticism on being selected for the team but was superb today. McCarthy on the other hand was awful.
- Kildare will run amok with lesser teams thanks to their fitness and physicality. They didnāt come close to matching Dublin at a skill level today and no amount of pointing and cajoling from McGeeney afterwards will alter that fact. Doyle was excellent in a deeper role but they donāt have a point taker to replace him in the forwards.
- Graeme Molloy was super for Wexford today. I guess heāll be given B Brogan.
- Carlow were pathetic.
