Youāre the guy who made the initial point about him and didnāt see the need to back it up so Iām just asking you to clarify your original point.
I never recall McDonald being red raw useless in any game. What I do recall is him leading the Mayo forward line for a decade and was often the only decent forward they had. Creatively he was superb, Dillon never came near to that level. It has been shown that since he has left the scene Mayo havenāt been a force.
McDonald was a tremendous talent to be fair and I wouldnt see any reason to run him down to build up Dillon and to be fair to Caoimhaoin I dont think he did (I say this after not really rereading his piece). I have always felt Dillon has been underrated however, but he could never aspire to the moments of sheer astonishment that McDonald could pull out on his day.
I see John McAreavey has been selected for Down Ulster Championship panel. Been a tough year for the lad, the football would no doubt be a welcome distraction for him.
Looking forward to seeing how Donegal get on today. They are my big dark horses for the Championship this year, i think they will go very well. I believe they were 50/1 and even 66/1 at one stage to win this years All-Ireland and i wouldnāt mind having some of that, theyāre 33/1 nowā¦
Itās looking like itāll be a Sheehan/Maher midfield for Kerry against Tipp. Pretty poor in my opinion. Sheehan is too lazy for midfield and not a great fielder of a ball.
Thats a septic intercounty midfield, by anyones standards. Although I still hold out hope for Sheehan its hard to see him getting that stick out of his arse anytime soon.
Laois team named, Iād swear its a dummy team though. Culleton gets a debut in goals, as does Shane Julian on the 40 and Daithi Carroll on the half forward line. Begley is midield beside Quigley as Clancy is injured still. Cahir Healy will pick up Brian Kavanagh. Darren Strong makes a miraculous recovery it seems, but I have my doubts about a few of them. Iād expect Padriac McMahon to start, and possibly Clancy/Lillis/Boyle to come in also.
Second Championship match in a week in O Moore Park, this is how the Leinster Championship should be instead of fucking Croker for every game.
Sheehan has no hope at midfield, heās been destroyed by club intermediate midfielders that were half a foot shorter then him. He is a free taker, and thats where it ends with him.
Yea, I dont doubt it, but its as realistic as him being an intercounty midfielder at this point in time.
Ah youād be going back to minor days, and early minor days at that, probably around 16 or so. Its a radical idea I grant you, but given Kerryās difficulties there one I think worth a shot as much and all as I love watching him bang over frees from distance, its all heās got going for him at intercounty level for Kerry.
Are you insane? Sheehan in goal ahead of the proper selection of keepers they have, which arenāt a bad bunch in fairness (not Diarmuid Murphy standard yet). As youāve correctly pointed out, he hasnāt played between the sticks since he was a chap and was only really there because he had a good kick out. He played outfield all through his school days. He is not a goalkeeper at all.
I was. I conceded only two goals in an entire season in nets for Salthill/Knocknacarra back in 1994/5. No idea how I ended up in there as I was a cracking left corner forward also.
