Totally disagree. One particular one was when Gardiner in the first half pushed a Waterford man over the line they got a free, the exact, as in carbon copy, happened on the far side in the 2nd half, and right at the end to Ben Oā Connor, yet no free. I agree the frees given i have no real problem with, but he left Waterford away with fouls Cork were being punished for. I even mentioned we did some stupid fouling. But listen, its not an excuse, i think Wāford were the far better team, should have won in regular time. They were more clinical, hard working and kept it simple. Their support play had a purpose, ours was of Intermediate club standard.
Think your wrong about Cadogan, thought he was good, the space and ball into Mullane was perfect for a fast full forward, any full back would struggle.
Have to say though i was wrong about Cork, and many fellas here were right, the Tipp games was a fluke, or our All-Ireland or whatever. And the unfortunate thing is for Denis Walsh, it will probably be his best ever win. heāll hang around for another 2 years, but doesnāt have the hurlers, or certainly not at the right age to work with. They are either too young or two old.
A loss to Antrim may not be as bad as it seems at all, Cadogan would be free for the footballers then. I think he needs to give them time now anyway.
Iām not, and i think heās humble enough to learn from it. But he set up the team too worried about Waterford and their tactics. Iām just saying, the Tipp win could turn out to be his biggest win. Sometimes you have to realise you just donāt have the players.
Has he had a contract extension though? Last I heard he had 2 and a half seasons starting from last year. Really, we need someone who realises that we need to start rebuilding with young players - once KK hammer us, will DW do that next year?
I pretty much agree with Gmanās summation. Tony Browneās storming finish and interventions at the end was the stuff of legends. Thought the referee did very well actually. It wasnāt a great standard but he allowed it to develop into a very entertaining contest by letting it flow and not being unnecessarily fussy. I think Waterford deserved it on the balance of play and I was impressed with their full back line.
If it is weāll lose iād say, it needs a shake up. I know hamstring injuries, and if Sean Og aināt ok this week, next week is unlikely as well, and for his own sake he should let it off. Would you really go with that half forward line? How could you drop Cussen?
Iād try Egan half back, MacLoughlin at midfield and then this
Cussen Niall Mac Naughton
Paudi Hoggy Aisake
My thinking is, Aisake will hang close to the full forward anyway even if heās in the corner, and let Horgan have somewhat of a free role, moving in and out.
Fair enough, but i think its time to cut a few big heads. Ben and Fraggie need to go. Playing Ben and Jerry now is madness. Ben has been the poorest iāve ever seen in the 2 and 1/2 games out of the last 3.
Just in the door
First off I was disappointed kev never showed at the dogtrack, their were a few ballinora cunts around allright but the fucked off pretty lively once the cobh lot came in and reminded them of the 1994 county final.
Upon leaving the dog track in high spirits we were met with the usual situation that we should of predicted but of course choose to ignore of approx 5000 people standing in a q in the practice pitch behind the stadium Q ing up to buy tickets from 2 dozy lads in a cabin.
Got in an round 7-20 and by al accounts we didnāt miss much so ill take it from there onā¦
First off biggest congratulations to Waterford, they are worthy champions and deserved their victory.
They had the chances to win it in regulation with Kelly missing 3 gilt edged opportunities.
The game whilst lacking maybe in quality certainly made up for it in passion and intensity, Both sides has star performers, for Cork, Curran, Gardiner,Cadogan and Brain Murphy had savage games in defense Paudie O sulliavn in attack also stood out, for Waterford Tony Brown, Brick walsh,Mullane and that lad corner back Connors had savage matches and also owen Kelly minus his 3 misses hurled some great ball.
The first half of what I saw fuck all of seemed pretty non descript stuff, the second 35 was epic championship hurling, Paudie sull was playing some great stuff for cork, mullane and cadogan were having a great ould battle and cork seemed to be doing well without shane o neil who I felt would be a huge loss as ray ryan was doing very well at halfback,
At half time and even with me only seeing 20 or so minutes of the first half it was obvious aisakeās game was up and I feel the lads bottled it on the line, id have taken aisake and Fraggy off, put Cussen in full forward and o Farrell in instead of Fraggy and paudie in for aisake, Horgan should have been brought out center forward and left niall mac and ben on the wings, instead walsh took off horgan, left aisake on and only with 5 minutes to go withdrew fraggy, this was one option
We had Waterford on the rack in the second half and it was disheartening to see all the high ball come in and aisake either over carry or else break it down for the Waterford defenders.
I know Tony brown had a stormer but FFS the guy is 37, in another option cork could have put Naughton on him early in the second half and burnt the cunt out, this could have been achieved by putting egan in midfield with Kenny , taking off fraggy and half time and playing ben in the corner allowing Naughton to go half forward to destroy brown, instead we had the sight of a cork playing into a 37 year old mans hands using having Cussen who is not mobile and ben who in the second half faded badly ,these two lads are slow and did not expose browns weakness, Putting Naughton on Brown I felt would have won cork the match.
Mickee, Them Ballinora fellas probably have have more medals each than the whole of living GAA members of Cobh.
But anyway, on the game and your report. Your right about Naughton, the thought hadnāt really crossed my mind about him on Browne, but your right it could have opened up the game.
Turenne - Anyone could get killed by KK the way its going, either heās the future or heās not, the future needs to start now.
On the Dublin game, I canāt believe Daly emptied the bench to give lads a breather ahead of the quarter final given their lead wasnāt that emphatic at all. I agree with sid that Dublin are soft and said it a few times before on here. They should have beaten us in 2007 and 2008 but lacked composure and almost conspired to mess it up against a shambolic Wexford last year too before not standing up to Limerick in the latter stages of the quarter final. Thatās a really awful result for them but fair play to Antrim.
