Official NFL & NHL 2009 Thread

Jesus Kerrigan is a lovely footballer. How this lad is not starting more games Iā€™ll never know.

Laois taking the piss though, exercise in damage limitation, standing off and no pressure on the Cork players.

Well to be fair Kerry are the All-Ireland champions, and they had 7 of that team playing today. Cork just got a run on them at the start, had a goal after about 20 seconds and had another 4 points in no time at all. Kerry had prepared on their own as a team as well for the last few months, so it is a weird one.
Cork have some very exciting players with 2 18 year olds Aidan Walsh and Ciaran Sheehan standing out at No.6 and No.11.
Jamie Oā€™ Sullivan didnā€™t give Tommy Walsh much room at all, although some of the ball in was poor. David Moran was cleaned at midfield and was taken off Chris Oā€™ Donovan, not something you would expect to happen.

Shocking gutless and clueless performance in O Moore Park last night. Laois are going nowhere fast soon.

Laois are nowhere already.

Here you, do you know anything about Tipp football? You beat Limerick in the last round and are 2/1 to beat Offaly at home today. Offaly have already got rid of their manager and I donā€™t know where theyā€™re at. Please advise me.

Offaly -3 points are a good thing @ 10/11.

Very poor performance from Dublin last night. Iā€™m willing to hold off a bit on the criticism of Gilroy for now as heā€™s still only in the job a short time and is still experimenting obviously but the league hasnā€™t been encouraging so far. Apart from Bernard Brogan up front there was very little football in the team and they had to labour very badly to get scores. Canā€™t see anybody new forcing their way onto the team for the championship, weā€™ll have to go with pretty much the same team as last year again.

Still think we will win Leinster as I donā€™t really see whoā€™s there to beat us but it could be Division 2 league football next year. Leinster football really is looking shocking at the moment. I donā€™t fancy us to go down to Mayo and win next week and the Kerry game in two weeks could be embarrassing the way things are going. Looks like there is still a big psychological hangover from last August. Theyā€™d want to snap out of it fairly soon.

I think Derry will be dark horses for Sam this year though. They have serious firepower up front. Eoin Bradley would be a great player if he puts his mind to it - seems to have had a bit of an attitude problem over the years but really showed his class last night. Derry have been well able to compete with Kerry any time they have played them in the last year. Think it was only a matter of time before they got it together, their club scene is very strong and they are always there or thereabouts at underage level.

What would the likes of you know anyway?

Cork never had to move out of second gear really, which worries me with championship not far off.

Excellent game between Kildare and Monaghan there. Monaghan are always good for a bit of entertainment. Would be a very noteable win for Kildare if they hold out.

Thats what worried me too.

Yet again your complete lack of GAA knowledge has been shownā€¦Stick to compost heaps and renewable energies

Tipp won it 1-18 to 1-09ā€¦Had a cool 200 v cash on tipp

That fucking Aertel is uselessā€¦Final score was Tipp 1-16 Offaly 1-08

Thatā€™s why Iā€™m always wary about settling vbookie GAA bets - RTE is regularly a disgrace. I asked tipptops* about Tipp as I was tempted to throw a cheeky 50 on them based on both sidesā€™ form, but I didnā€™t in the end. Fook you tipptops*.

I did have some success with a 4/1 accumulator involving Galway, Kerry, Tyrone and Leitrim though.

After beating limerick last weekend i thought they were serious value at 2/1 at home against a fairly pedestrian Offaly teamā€¦

That was my reasoning too, but itā€™s my own fault for not backing it up. Offaly have some talented footballers so things must be pretty bad behind the scenes there.

He obviously had religious parents.

Well they are falling out over money, so it canā€™t be good.

RTE match reports

This one has to be read to be believed. A fucking disgrace

Galway 1-16 Donegal 0-12

Leading 1-11 to 0-02 at half-time, the Galway team left the pitch to a standing ovation such was the impressive nature of their performance.

Seven minutes into the second half Galway stretched their lead to 1-13 0-03 when Michael Meehan knocked over a twenty-metre free-kick.

Gareth Bradshaw grabbed a fine point to reduce the arrears for Donegal.

Ciarn Bonner and Michael Meehan dropped over further points for Galway in the second half but they soon after went to sleep and Donegal took control of the tie reducing the arrears significantly to 1-15 to 0-12.

Donegal never seriously threatened the tie; however, and two further Michael Meehan points towards the end sealed the tie for Galway.
