Donât really know where to put this but seeing as you are discussing Dublin and Meath from 1991 I suppose Iâll throw it in here.
I watched the third game on TG4 All Ireland Gold on Saturday. What an utter shite game of football. Woeful. Barney Rock scored nearly all Dublinâs points from frees as Stafford did for Meath. Also, once the ball was won in the half back line it was lashed forward. No hand passing whatsoever.
Seriously hard hitting though from both teams. At one stage Mick Lyons floored a Dublin player - canât remeber who, but as Pat OâNeill (doctor for the Dubs back then) came on to attend to him he was pushed away by Martin OâConnell and Bobby OâMalley and he had to push them back.

Mad stuff.[/quote]
Some rivalry though wasnât it? That pinch of bitterness made it all the better. A lot of the classics donât contain the best football or hurling but itâs the battles they were that set them apart.
Very disappointing end to Limericks campagin. The loss to Offaly meant they got relegated on score difference. I suppose the only positives to take from it are we still got 6 points and there were only a couple of pionts in those games we lost (except the louth game). Also the fact the Tommy Murphy cup has been scrapped means we will still get into the qualifiers if we get knocked out of Munster.
Mickey Ned should never have gotten another year in charge, the man is a complete spoofer but hopefully theyâll able to get things sorted before the championship. Tipps promotion will also give them food for thought as we wil lhave to beat them to get to a Munster final.
We were trying to get them to turn on the Dublin-Meath game in Dalymount on Saturday but they werenât having any of it. I donât think Iâve ever seen any of them. I might see if anyone has them on DVD, theyâve probably been released at some stage.
Elsewhere, Cork Seniors and Under-21 played against each other with the seniors winning easy. Big news is that Aisake scored 2 goals from full-forward, while Fintan OâLeary, Ronan Conway, Dara McSweeney, Barry Johnson, Eoin Dillon etc all got run-outs as well. Iâm guessing from the Echo we might see a new, more defensive player at midfield on Sunday and Fintan OâLeary on the 40. Not sure if Aiskae is now playing both codes or what.
Apparently he is. He isnât working and i suppose the fact he is coming straight from professional sport will help him. Always thought he was the most skillful Oâ Halphin, so maybe heâll make us more competitive.
Delighted to see Conway back, heâs a excellent player, had awful time with injuries. Eoin Dillon and McSweeney deserve a go at full back, even though i doubt if McSweeney has the tools for Inter-County hurling. Iâve been shouting for Dillon for years, should have been on panel right out of Minor.
Heard on the rumour mill that the older guys are struggling in training and apparently Deano, Timmy Mac and Sully are all but gone. Its time for a clear out year, if Denis does that and goes with a relatively young team i might fork out to go watch them.
Turrene or Puke - Do ye really think Fintan Oâ Leary is up to Inter-County?

Have seen him hurl 4 or 5 times in the Fitz and have been impressed by him, not the biggest lad but has a nice touch and seems to have the confidence to take on his man take scoresâŚWhether he is good enough I honestly donât know but from my limited viewings of him he certainly deserves a goâŚ
To try and even up the Hurling League final a bit theyve fixed it for Thurles on May 2nd at 4pm,the late start will make it difficult on Noel Hickey to get back for milking was the first thing that came into my mind,4pm is too late a start at this time of Year imo,get on Kilkenny at plus 20 anyway, its probably around 2/1.
I heard it on the Radio about an hour ago,i cant remember which station. The rugby being on wont affect the Kilkenny crowd travelling in any way, those who go to games wont worry about missing an oul rugby game, maybe the overall crowd will be affected though.
Thats correct we wouldnt be that well up on dates here in Kilkenny, bunch of fucking hillbillies yer going to call us next, to that im saying fuck you watch us win this Years double without anyone coming within 10 points of us.
