Official TFK Irish General Election 2024

Harris is a creepy sleeveen cunt, who has nothing authentic about him.

I wouldn’t be suprised if he dyed his hair grey becuse some focus group told him it would make him more statesman like.

That said the cunt is fucking everywhere. He’s leaving no stone unturned.

especially the one he crawled out from under

I’m sick of saying it.
While governments cant solve all of lifes problems, their inability to tackle their main brief and the issues that are really affecting the country- is the biggest reason for the rise of the right and hatred as a whole.

Crime, health and housing are all in complete tatters.

As @tallback alluded to, he’s agreeing to policy changes off the cuff based on filmed interactions on main streets & then announcing them on social media later that day. Now most of these interactions are probably staged but he’s becoming quite irksome.

What does this mean though?

They delivered a large amount of their 2011 and 2016 manifestos which were largely related to the economy, the IMF EU plan etc. Some failures clearly (where is Slaintecare?) but even in 2016 they promised to get up to 25,000 houses built in the term of the government. It was 22,000 in 2019 so it wasn’t like they were a millions miles off.

Why can’t they promise new things? That’s the nature of any society and development. It’s no point in moaning that we didn’t have €200 childcare costs from 2011.

Why not compare that to the alternative economic policies advocated for at the time which ranged from nationalise Dell to Syriza economics?

In reality the main briefs change all the time now.

The main brief in 2011 was the economy and the public finances.

No single opposition party wanted to take the economy on this time out as there is basically nothing to argue on that brief.

Eaten break is quicker forgotten in this day and age. Paddy Cosgrave posted the Enda Kenny 2007 promise on health where that was probably the big “issue”. People were fuming with the state of it (it is funny how people act like this is a new thing). They still flocked to FF though as the economy was good and they looked at things in the round.

Is there a rise in the right though? This election will tell a lot

That’s hard to fully gage.
They are certainly more vocal and emboldened. They seems to be more willing to make themselves known.

Have they always existed in the same numbers :man_shrugging:

But i think there’s a cohort of people being drawn towards more hateful and intolerant rhetoric out of anger and a sense of hopelessness about their life… there’s multiple layers driving this… and all politicians, not just the government, are responsible for a share of it… i must write a longer philosophical post on this if i can summon the energy.

But that’s a long winded way of answering your question with a ‘i don’t know’.

Did he give the jacks a quick clean while he was there?

I’m interested in the strategy behind SF pushing the John McGahon stuff hard.

On a simple level I get it - it damages FG.

On a deeper level though I’m curious how thie benefits SF. If they sway FG voters, and I’m unsure outside that particular constituency if the will, do they expect they’ll go to SF?

Similarly- do they want to focus the election newscycle around this and therefore the moral relativity of McGahon vs SF history of criminality/terrorism? I would have thought the message that would most resonate with voters would be housing/housing/housing and how SF can be a catalyst of change?

Is the ultimate strategy to try and boost FF over FG to get to a FF/SF gov being possible?

Youre over thinking it.

They’re just swinging and hoping to land a punch without much thought of being hit back.

MLMD has shown us this time and time again

Yeah there’s a bit of that for sure.

I’d still reckon the TwixMan will get in. If he doesn’t, maybe the other FG candidate, the Butterly woman gets in. We won’t be a Butterly Twix combo though.

SF don’t know what they stand for anymore except the age-old adege of reunification.

In one way i get it… you have 2 large established parties and to break them up you have to try capitalize on topical and current issues. But Mary has had ample opportunity to set out the party stall over the last few years but it just seems to be constantly caught between bandwagons… and all despite my postings on here telling her what’s what. It’s like she has me on ignore.

man forever banging on about how great life is in the USA & Britain vs Ireland & how their health systems are so much better willfully excludes life expectancy stats

In the last 15 years, life expectancy in Ireland has seen a notable increase. According to data, the life expectancy for Ireland in 2024 is 82.96 years, which is a 0.19% increase from 2023. If he voted for that, he risked losing the party whip.

I thought we were all dying young because of the VAX?
