He’s ex FG so may get some of that vote. The Aontu fella O’Dowd is the brother of the outgoing FG TD. He’ll do well too, and would probably benefit from some of the conservative Payter Fitzpatrick type voters (although at other side of county). Twixxer was well in line for a seat until the last week.
Just had Cllr Aoibhinn Tormey (FG) at my door. The Fingal TFKcrew speak very highly of her & it was lovely to speak with her in person about education, housing & active travel amongst other things.
I don’t think Chris Andrews will get in. SF will get a lower overall vote than last time and I think the SF vote in this constituency will be hit quite hard. This Nick Delehanty chancer could pilfer quite a few votes from Andrews. The question then becomes who picks Andrews’ seat up. O’Connell seems the most obvious beneficiary. The constituency was traditionally 3 right seats 1 left seat. That’s sort of changed to 2 and half to 1 and a half in the last 10-15 years. I get the sense that any swing is more back towards the right this time, but O’Connell herself isn’t really seen as right but as liberal. I’d see her picking up a lot of transfers, and she’s, well, nice to look at, which never harms a person’s vote.
I foresee a repeat of the 2016 disaster for SF here. They have three candidates.
There’s a guy here called Charles Ward running on a platform of 100% redress for Mica home owners. I can see him being a cat amongst the pigeons and getting in.
Contrary to my memory Pat the Cope Gallagher narrowly failed to be elected in 2020 but he’s going again.
Thomas Pringle always seems to do just enough to squeeze home and I expect he will again.
She said she’s played a huge roll in expanding it in Fingal since being elected to the council in 2019 & said the new corridor into Connolly is a game changer for this end of the constituency. Said it’s been a tough slog to get things done when other parties are constantly trying to block progress.
