George Lee walked out of RTE thinking he was a sort of hero of the people. And for a short time he was. A very short time. That time was the crash spring of 2009.

I’m not so sure Grainne is that well liked and stories like this can have legs. Also Graham Geraghty was trounced when he stood as a candidate. That was 2007 though.

I think there’s a surprisingly wide feeling of cynicism about Grainne’s campaign, that she’s just doing it because she’s bored and wants profile again and because she’s seen a jockey and a Rose Of Tralee winner and a former Eurovision Song Contest presenter sail into the European Parliament.

However, Dev Óg is stepping down, it’ll probably be a good election for Fianna Fail and the votes have to go somewhere.

Why is Ollie Crowe not running @Diabhal @Keadyshouldhaveplayedin89 @Jimmy_Mc_Nulty ?

Seems the higher ups wanted Grainne and Connolly on the ticket. Name recognition etc. Lads like Crowe and Cheevers were shafted. I’ve heard that to describe them as bulling would be an understatement.

The same level of anger towards the gov just isn’t there despite housing, the main reason for the anger in 2019, still being in total shit.

That anger is living and not existing in Australia now or has managed to get a house.

Working class anger has turned inwards.

Covid , war, cost of living have also splintered the splinter groups.

But ultimately, the opposition in Ireland is utter dog shit.

Has to be Mary Lou’s last election unless she does a Liverpool at home to Barcelona and comes back from what looks like an unbeatable lead.
