I really hope Mr Bean doesn’t pull a hammy. A good bit of dynamic stretching every morning before he ignores government business should see him right

Getting the right men into power for the next few years is his business for the next month.

I can see Taoiseach Harris being a successful competitor on The Krypton Factor yet.

He must work off 3 hours sleep. Outstanding.

If I was in the hospitality sector, I think this would actually make me put any candidate FG last.

Laughable considering there was a budget a few weeks ago.

John McGuinness (FF) and his brother (independent) both running against each other in the same constituency. No love lost between them.

The Monk has entered the race in Dublin Central.

Both him and Clare Daly will be nibbling at Mary Lou’s vote you’d imagine. I’d very surprised if she was in trouble but might stop her bringing a running mate in.

Deirdre Heney standing for FF again in our place. She’s lost more elections than Mayo have All Irelands.

Doesn’t matter. John has romped home for eons now. It’ll be no different this time around

Mary Lou’s vote will be nibbled or bitten into to varying degrees by several candidates. Daly, Hutch, Steenson, Mary Fitzpatrick, her own running mate Janice Boylan, and the Aontu candidate.

She’ll still have enough but she won’t bring in a running mate and she might only get in on a later count. She might even be only hanging on at all.

What happens on the campaign trail will be important and could materially change the outcome. There’s a possibility that attacks or intimidation against certain candidates garner sympathy for them. Mary Lou is one of the likeliest targets for that.

Seamus Healy as well.

Cue a load of creepy, glib comments by racists on TFK who support assaults on decent elected politicians by fascist scumbags.

Gardai are investigating an incident in which the Labour MEP Aodhán Ó Ríordáin allegedly had coffee thrown at him while he was canvassing in Dublin, The Sunday Times can reveal.

A man was arrested and later released from custody following the incident near Vernon Avenue in Clontarf last Friday morning, with gardai saying last night their inquiries were ongoing.

Ó Ríordáin was dropping leaflets for Labour’s Dublin Bay North general election candidate Shane Folan at an apartment block at about 11.30am when a man is said to have climbed out of a car and confronted him.

The man is claimed to have attempted to stop the MEP putting leaflets into letterboxes, resulting in a fracas. It is alleged that the man threw coffee in Ó Ríordáin’s face before spending about 45 minutes following around the former TD for the constituency as he tried to canvass the area.

It is also claimed that during this time the man filmed Ó Ríordáin and shouted abuse at him. The man, however, alleged that Ó Ríordáin had assaulted him and called the gardai.

On arrival, officers arrested the man.

A force spokesman said: “Gardai are investigating following an alleged incident involving an elected representative canvassing in his local community in Dublin, on Friday, November 8, 2024. A male was arrested as part of this investigation.

“He has since been released from custody. Inquiries are ongoing.”

Ó Ríordáin declined to comment when contacted yesterday.

Senator ‘fears for her safety’ over fake profile on swingers site

News of the alleged attack comes amid heightened concern about the safety of politicians during the general election campaign.

Last week a man pleaded guilty to assaulting Roderic O’Gorman while the Green Party leader was canvassing in Dublin West last weekend.

Gardai and Coimisiun na Mean have issued a safety pack to all election candidates which offers advice on what they should do if they are subjected to threats online or in person.

Candidates have been advised to contact gardai if they fear for their immediate safety and to report any social media posts to the relevant platforms. The commission has admitted, however, that it does not have the authority to order the removal of content from social media platforms.

There are a lot of angry people out there. I see simple Simon getting a few on street verbals in different videos.

They are a minority though. Deep down most are happy enough with their lot and a bit afraid of what Sinn Fein might do.

There should be a gap for labour to be the anti government vote for the non lunatics. But labour are at nothing at the minute.

A ball of independents will get in I’d say
