He pulled the strings
On this day 2018 Ireland rejected the patriarchal theocratic dinosaurs forever and obliterated the 8th Amendment
A great day
This day 30 years ago, 26 May 1989 was a sad day for English soccer. Former Leeds United and England manager Don Revie passed away. A Manchester City playing stalwart as well who was the trailblazer at Maine Road in establishing links with the Middle East, going on to manage the United Arab Emirates international team as well.
Ever see him on Johnny Giles’s documentary giving soap massages? Strange behavior.
on this day 34 years ago, 39 innocent people were murdered by supporters of Liverpool Football Club

While the Germans were all away fighting the Russians
Don’t forget the Canadians…
They were, but that was their own choice. They just bit off more than they could chew with the Russians.
Don’t forget Hitler was asleep at the time also. Great thinking by Churchill.
It’s an awful pity that history ( in this country at least) is now optional for Junior cert. In another generation this will now be forgotten and by the 100th anniversary they won’t even be laying a wreath
History is ignored anyway Mike. Having a president that gives a glowing obituary to Fidel Castro will tell you that
History should be the most mandatory subject, and taught correctly, including inferences and lessons to be learned from it, by the finest teachers available.
It should also be more about concepts and eras than dry dates.
Imagine the great value in teaching kids properly and objectively about the rebellions and civil War, and about ww1 and ww2, the circumstances that led to them, the cluster fuck some of them were, how they could have been avoided, how they shaped our society and world. Even the tactics of battles etc. It would be brilliant to do as a subject if taught well to a smaller syllabus. It’s the basis of everything. History and Maths.
I see the Micks are claiming credit for the liberation of France. They provided the weather forecast.
Unfortunately History is taught like Prose now. I suppose that’s the way it is, and maybe the way it has to be.
We lost 10,000 men in the first 24 hours. A blood sacrifice that will never be forgotten
I got a A1 in honors history in 1995
