Paris Olympics 2024

Nah the watching audience would twig thereā€™s something fishy about that straight away. Anyway thereā€™s no plaice for it in modern gymnastics.

Unreal athlete but there is something very unlikeable about her. Doesnā€™t appear to be too gracious in defeat either. I couldnā€™t finish that Netflix thing on her.

Sheā€™s being built up too muchā€¦ The 400 is still relatively new to her. It looks like sheā€™ll medal but this is senior hurlingā€¦ The semi might tell a bit more

Outstanding floor routine from Rebeca Andrade. She is an artist. Iā€™d love to see her win gold in this.

The Irish media and especially RTƉ need to be haven a quiet word with. Sheā€™s incredible, and has a great opportunity, but this 400M field is as strong as there has been and a lot can go wrong between the cup and the mouth. A little tempering of expectations would be no bad thing. It matters little in the grand scheme but they really should know better and learn from the Wiffen situation.

Weā€™re all supporters and can get giddy but they have a greater responsibility

Qualifying for an Olympics sprint final is a great achievement. Letā€™s just hope she makes it through the semi final unscathed.

She needs to be protected. People need to be aware of the likely reaction from certain quarters if she doesnā€™t medal. Social media is a fucking cesspit and the worst people in Ireland will have the knives out for her not just if she doesnā€™t medal but for merely existing as an exceptionally talented black Irish woman.

Ireland can be so proud of her whatever happens in Paris.

This is the real stuff now, Olympics track. Winning medals and gold in technical events that hardly anyone in the world competes in is one thing but medals won on the track are the real deal.

The Dominican jogged around the track and was a full second faster than RA. We need to get real. Making the final should be her aim first and after that perhaps try sneak a medal but she ainā€™t beating her.

Biles stepped out of the square twice. Insanely difficult tumbles. Will the difficulty rating save her?

You just donā€™t know. I think she has a right chance because sheā€™s such an effortless looking natural runner. She looks like bolt.
But then I havenā€™t a clue.

Biles only second! The two penalties she got for stepping out took 0.6 off her score.

Maybe her final Olympic performance.

Great to see a hugely promising new talent emerging from Romania. A very good floor routine by 16 year old Sabrina Maneca-Voinea. Her mam won a silver medal with the Romanian team in 1988. Not quite enough for a medal this time though, she places fourth on a countback.

A very popular gold medal for Rebeca Andrade on the floor.

Ana Barbosu takes the bronze medal for the home of gymnastics, Romania.

Nooooo!

Jordan Chiles has had her score moved from 5th to 3rd!

Incredible scenes but we have to take a break. What the hell went on there?

The poor girl but it crossed my mind that Chilesā€™ score seemed low

Thatā€™s madness. The Romanians must be going mental
