Jayo was far more famous than Clifford. In the words of Ger Canning, “we’ve had Jason Donovan, we’ve had Jason McAteer and now Jason Sherlock, the latest of the 90s craze.”

Jayo at his 1995 fame peak was instantly the most famous player the GAA had ever had. His fame was comparable to Oasis or Take That.
