People shite talking about hiaces

The guaranteed future value is quite low which protects the car company against market depreciation.

I see a potential issue with some of the high end PCP vehicles after 3 years,

people could get a bit of a shock when they have to come up with 20k or 30k in cash if they want to keep the vehicle, especially when they have been paying 500 or 600 a month for the past 3 years

What is wrong with Focus Harry? We have had 4 of them over the past 13 years and not a bother with any of them.

They only last about 3.25 years?

Yeah that’s my point. The gteed min value is low. I wouldn’t doubt you get that. But the scheme is designed so that next time you want new car the trade in gives you equity so no cash required.

I’ve only had a quick look but PCP seems to be a bad deal for the buyer, unless they are locking themselves into a cycle of PCP financing going forward.

The lack of equity in the vehicle as you look to replace it is the main problem.

PCP seems to be for lads who want to drive a car they can’t afford. As usual if a deal sounds too good to be true it is.

Any recommendations on a 7 seater @carryharry looking to change fairly soon. Want to keep the spend about 18k. A used car obviously.

Last week you told me that there would be no petrol/diesel cars in 10 years. You’re moving the goalposts here.

Bought c. 3 to 4 years old and sold at 8 years, just on the 4th now

Scrappage allowance is added on in the List Price. So for example if a car has a list price of €30995 you only get the allowance off that price. But if you bought on a straight deal the same car could be bought straight for €28500.

You will get VW Finance at the same rates with Skoda. The Skoda Octavia Saloon is far bigger than the Rapid. I would advise if you are going on PCP to opt for the 2.0lt 140bhp Diesel version. It is a 6 speed and have lots more power & economy than the 1.6lt 110bhp version .

I had a focus diesel a few years ago, can of shit. Had to change the injectors at a cost of 1400. I bought an avensis diesel afterwards and since last week I’ve been told I need to replace the injectors at a cost of 1400. All diesel cars are a can of shit and all the Harrys of this world are thieving bastards. No offence Harry.

Modern Diesel cars won’t run on paraffin or green diesel forever, pal.

Presume you want something a tad bigger than your existing People Carrier?

2 choices if so, VW Sharan or Seat Alahambra.

Steer clear of Used New shape Galaxy’s. Cans of shit if not we’ll minded by the previous owner.

Tell your wife I said she has exquisite taste.

A lad I know bought one last year after hauling two sets of golf clubs round every car showroom to test the bootsize. :sob:

Have often looked at the Alhambra alright have heard very good reports. What would you say to a Santa Fe 7 seat or a Qashqai +2? I just think these look a bit better than the standard MPV.

Serious wedge for those yokes. Great car though.

Next door have seven seater Santa fe. Lovely bus to drive anyways. He is a mechanic so assume he had them well checked out

I looked at those octavias earlier in the year. By the time you have moved on from a basic 90 bhp and no Bluetooth, you are at 25k plus cash price. 2.0 is a step on again. All of a sudden it’s an expensive car for what it is.

You could get a basic jetta (spit) with all that for 21. Or a superb for 26500. Cash prices.

What about those hyundai jeep things?

I don’t know much about what goes on under the engine and I see it’s been dismissed by another poster but I’d look around for a decent galaxy, great leg room in the boot and a bit of storage space besides, you’d be looking at about a 2011 in that price range which is similar to what the missus drives, good car to maintain value as well I’ve heard.
