These are chicken breasts from my own corn fed free range organic flock out the back. My five year old is adept at giving them a peaceful death and the three year old plucks them before bed then. Its a slick system and a bit of work in it but at least you know what your getting

at least you have that bit of reassurance, God, imagine ateing that stuff most butchers in Ireland sell, 10 chicken fillets for a tenner, christ almighty, you might as well commit suicide

The slow cooker was invented for simpletons. Its a really really useless piece of kit. Lads ating grub they have no idea what temperature it was cooked at, just that itā€™s been in there for 8 hours or whatever.
I wish I invented it because every dumb fucker in oireland seems to have bought one.

Youā€™re the can of piss that came on here last week moaning about your poor wife trying to keep Donegal catch warm in the oven for you. If you bought her a slow cooker youā€™d have a hot nutritious casserole waiting for you of an evening and she would be spared at least one of your foot stamping hissy fits. Everyoneā€™s a winner.

those chicken fillets the Oirish are buying in trays from tesco and dunnes are pumped full of antibiotics. its actually one of the reasons so many oirish lads are walking round with big flabby tits on them

First beef and Guinness stew of the winter gone on, the slow cooker is crammed to the lid. Unfortunately I had no bay leaves or Dijon but Iā€™d say it will still be nice anyway.

Slap up the recipe there.

Same as Iā€™d put if i was doing it in a pot: beef, carrots, onions, mushrooms (browned first), garlic, beef stock, Guinness. Iā€™d normally throw in a teaspoon of two of Dijon and a couple bay leaves but didnā€™t have any. Slow cookers do great things to meat but I find the gravy from it can be runny as it doesnā€™t reduce, Iā€™d often pour it off and reduce in a pot after to thicken it. This time I mixed some flour and butter and stirred that into the Guinness in a pot before adding to the slow cooker to see would that thicken it up.

Excellent. Let me know if that works for thickening the sauce,

Iā€™d use similar ingredients along with a tin of tomaotes and some rosemary and thyme. Its great winter food

It works a bit but youā€™d still need to throw it in a pot to thicken a but after, but it thickens faster cause thereā€™s the bit of flour in it already.

Grate in a sweet potato also good for thickening it up

After throwing on something fairly similar to this. I threw in a good dollop of Dijon as above. Hopefully it elevates it to another level
