Which is why they try and make them study or learn a trade while playing ? They wouldn’t be on massive massive money?
It’d be decent, but wouldnt set them up for life if they only meandered through as an average player for a few years. They certainly do try to encourage off field studies, but many wouldnt bother with it. Some more savvy types would and set themselves up, whether in business or media roles. One eagles player quit playing tostudy medicine actually and then went onto finance and is with essendon as their investment specialist of some sort. Obviously making more money in a career than what AFL would have given him.
Top players would be on good money with endorsements as well.
They’d have built up decent contacts as well you’d imagine while playing.

Its extremely odd.
