Phil Hogan - We'll miss him now he's gone

Phil Hogans stellar career that has lead to him being regarded as a master of politics:

  • Resigns as a minister after leaking a budget
  • Loses a Fine Gael leadership contest
  • Oversees a victory in the softest election ever
  • Is subsequently run out of the new government after overseeing a number of debacles and shunted off to Europe

Paddy has a real problem with women in positions of power

But he’s a top negotiator

It would appear so. Paddy has never had a woman Prime Minister or European Commissioner.

Two heads of State though

Incorrect, as usual.

Mrs Quinn formerly miss Geoghegan?

Forgot about her. She made a big impact alright. Didn’t she have one of the Knitting jobs? Commissioner for Research and Innovation.

Eminently forgettable in any case.

It’s interesting that the feedback on Phil Hogans impact/capability from Europe seems a lot more positive than the feedback in Ireland

Sure we like nothing better than knocking one of our own

Judging by the noises from Brussels this morning requesting a male and female nominee, the next Commissioner is nailed on to be a woman. A head to head between Mairead McGuiness and Frances Fitzgerald in that case.

A former tv presenter and a minister who couldn’t work outlook. :cold_sweat:
