Podders

Parkinson is a cunt.

Gaa is largely boring bar a handful of games really. There isn’t ever going to be a massive market for a gaa show.

That’s your opinion.

I don’t follow racing bar Xmas and Cheltenham.

Willie Mullins and Aidan O’Brien are gentlemen but neither set any pulses racing.

GAA is the most popular sports organisation by far in this country.

Soccer is more popular.

Hurling is followed in a max of ten counties in largely rural counties. Your not going to get any bigger sponsor or get any really big following. It’s a niche market.

Parkinson completely lost the run off himself. It was also never confirmed whether his figures were juiced as well. Joe.ie had been caught before with that sort of thing.

Gaelic Football is the biggest sport in this country. Soccer in a close second.

Rugby and Hurling have about the same popularity but the international dimension plus the fact it’s South Dublins main sport mean it attracts more media attention.

To suggest a podcaster could not make a full time wage off GAA is incorrect.

@Little_Lord_Fauntleroy please address this.

It’s only in the last 3 or 4 years I realised how Gaelic Football dwarfs Hurling in popularity. You’d really notice it in Dublin on All Ireland Final weekends. Football is an obsession in a lot of Ulster counties.

Hurling really needs to get Laois, Offaly, Antrim and maybe even Kildare properly competitive. They all have a bit of potential whereas you are wasting your time trying to make Hurling popular in Donegal and some of those places.

Agree whole heartedly. But hurling is a far superior game

It is absolutely in a general sense but in the last couple of years the pendulum is swinging.

It’s too easy to score points in hurling whereas in football now a good point can feel like a big moment and generally gets a big roar of approval from the crowd.

An important year ahead for hurling. Hopefully the big games are all played in a heavy, misty rain and we’ll get better spectacles where its harder to control the ball and harder to score from 100+ yards.

We’re not far of a big hurling game been 0-40 to 0-35

Yeah I’d agree with that. Need to make the sliothar a bit heavier as well.

You’d get a hurling final ticket any year no bother.Football tickets are like gold dust every year.

It’s ridiculous stuff. Nobody can even remember scorelines now.

Waterford ran up a ridiculous score on Tipp this year and only got over the line by a few points.

It’s just becoming a game of puckouts and shots.

Hurling is the MMA of Gaa

The ball needs to be soaked in water for an hour before each game.

The best games of hurling of the last few years are usually played in the rain when every play is a real contest.

1980 munster final. A proper game. 2-14 to 2-10.
That’s 4-26 which is still 3 points short Limericks total last year

It hasn’t spread since Carson codified it

The 2019 Munster Club final finished 1-12 to 1-11.

An absolute masterpiece of a game.

To be honest the only scoreline I can actually remember from this years Inter County championship was the AI Semi that Limerick won which was relatively low scoring for these days. 1-25 to 0-17.

its either a shitter sport or the GGA has failed it

Which

Are you asking a question there or have you just passed out mid post?

Limericks total of 3-16 in 2018 was probably the last time a team scored a relatively moderate amount to win a game
