I listened to the whole lot this morning, excellent stuff. Mugs who don’t need it, queuing up to get that Pfizer shit pumped into them ffs
Its a good listen in fairness. There is an awful lot of good points made on it. I wouldn’t agree with everything but its important that an alternative point of view is allowed on a decent platform.
Joe Rogan deserves a lot of credit for that.
That fucker Fauci is up to his neck in shite, we’ll never know the half of it
Like 20 20 cricket
Parkinson did a good service originally. First one that did an hour long podcast that was on a weekly or bi-weekly basis fore each code.
We now have market saturation appearing.
He can be hard listen to, he doesn’t seem to like being challenged, gets very emotive and isn’t the smartest button. Can’t really see it working for him on a subscription basis.
Hurling would barely be in the top six most popular sports in south Dublin, if that.
Soccer is the most boring game out there
Soccer?
That’s what he’s saying
Yes soccer
It’s gone from YouTube already
Association football is what brings in the subscribers for Second Captains and it has increasingly come to be dominated by the meandering, absurd but deeply intelligent musings of Ken Early, in a similar way to how Homer started dominating the Simpsons after it started out as a vehicle for Bart.
Other sports and the other presenters are essentially ballast.
Association football dominates and can sustain interesting podcasts because it has soap opera.
GAA largely doesn’t. Whatever soap opera exists in GAA is largely confined to Gaelic football - as nobody recognises any hurling players anymore because they wear helmets - and it is created by chaos and absurdity, which the GAA wants to abolish in favour of bland rationality. Chaos and absurdity are much under valued qualities. They provide fodder for heated discussion, and if you don’t have fodder for heated discussion, you have nothing. People say they don’t want chaos and absurdity, but they in fact desperately desire it.
Good examples of chaos and absurdity in Gaelic football in recent years were the Tiernan McCann dive, the Dermo Connolly suspension/unsuspension/suspense saga, Brolly v CavanaghGate, the furious arguing about the venue for the 2014 Kerry v Mayo replay, the Tyrone Covid saga, and Sluddengate.
Unfair sendings off, unfair non-sendings off, illegal goals, unfairly ruled out goals, all these are discussion fodder.
These are marketing tools for a sport in and of themselves and without them you have essentially nothing to discuss.
Sorry, so he was. He’s still wrong. Association football is by a long distance the most popular sport in south Dublin.
Id agree with you.
There is a real needle in Inter County football that’s not there anymore in Inter County hurling.
Like in football you’ll get Tomas O’Se, Pat Spillane, Ciaran Whelan, David Brady, Sean Cavanagh stirring the pot leading up to the really big games, pressurising officials, making big statements about tactics etc which brings a bit of razzmatazz to proceedings. Obviously Brolly in studio was fantastic at it too and still does it a bit when he can get a platform. Having pantomine villains like a lot of the Tyrone lads, John Small, Lee Keegan, even AidoXI all add to the drama.
Hurling has sadly moved away from this. As the likes of Babs, Loughnane and Cyril get moved out to pasture they are being replaced by bullshitters.
The two people who brought the biggest X Factor to the hurling championship in recent years were Davy Fitz and Joe Canning and now neither are involved anymore. Its worrying.
He has an exclusive deal with Spotify, he is taking it down himself lads.
He is extremely hard to listen to these days, just completely removed from the weird alt sort he once was. He can’t just bullshit about drugs or aliens or whatever anymore, covid fully broke his brain like so many others
Didn’t mention that but I’d say your about right.

Hurling/Basketball?
Is this Joe Rogan or Colm Parkinson you’re talking about?
Hockey and Tennis maybe. If you actually go by those ESRI stats that are bandied about here the odd time then of course all these sports fall behind walking, running, dancing and other forms of transport.
Ahhh stop
