Can’t see him surviving this. 2 in 4 is not a bad return for most counties but with the downfall of the Dubs in recent years they would have been hoping for a purple patch particularly with Clifford in his prime years and how the new rules play to his skillset.
I can see Clifford being around for another 10 years but 2 is a very low return for him in his first 9 years with the kingpins of the GAA.
It’s a different game now with the new rules and oddly enough Kerry seemed far more uncomfortable with them this year than last year whether that was a case of other teams adapting more this year or not I don’t know.
I think there was a touch of arrogance after their good start. They missed 4 chances in a row after the goal to extend the lead. They lacked size with Diarmuid O’Connot missing and no real alternatives off the bench. Tom O’Sullivan tried a couple of indulgent two pointers that weren’t really on. Mayo just had the heart and desire Kerry couldn’t match and it’s not the first time when a county stands up to them and don’t flinch that Kerry don’t have the stomach for the battle.
I think the two lads in midfield for them are fairly ordinary. They had a couple of very good midfielders at u20 this season and I’d say they will be involved next year. Surprised they weren’t drafted into the squad after tbh.
