That’s what it comes down to in the end. A little mini league between the top sides and in the final few months both Arsenal and Liverpool played for a draw v city when they needed a win.

That’s incredibly inaccurate. Arsenal picked up 8 points from 4 games against the other two top sides. Man City only accrued 3 points from 4 games. So the mini-league wasn’t the losing of it for Arsenal at all. It was their record in derbies against mid-table London opposition which ultimately cost them.

You’re all over the place here. Arsenal beat both Man City and Liverpool at home and then held both of them away from home. They could hardly have done much more in the big games.
