Pubs opening

I’ll drink myself to death or die trying

You would id say. Edited that to read licences going for 30k…but long term low margin high volume gig competing with supermarkets…not easy

Minimum pricing will mean those who can deliver a good offering will do well. Prive wont be an issue

Ya it’s the supermarkets that would kill you. But if you had the crafties, good wine etc in store you’d make a few bob. No goldmine though that’s for sure

I heard a porter mechanic saying he’s drinking in his garage with his buddy every night and is over the moon with the amount of money he’s saving every week. No closing time either.

The license will extend to 4am within 3 years, chalk it. With less traffic in city centres because of WFH there will be more emphasis on street access. Regard less of bars/pubs the shakeup in town centers will be transformative anyway

I miss pubs, but I could live without them.

What kind of margin would an offy be looking at?

I don’t know what it’ll be like in Brandon without being able to go for a pint. I’m not missing them as much as I thought really.

I love a pint. But it’s the people you’d miss really. I’m not looking to pull birds or anything either which helps I guess

A nice wine shop/wine bar with a bike park and bike service shop as part of it is the future. In the mornings an espresso bar.

I’d be the same. My pulling days are long gone (not that they were hectic at any stage) but I miss the pubs nonetheless. A nice escape every now and again. Few pints. Maybe even get hammered occasionally.

Don’t get me wrong I’d murder a proper pint. But I’d survive another while.

A few quiet pints on a mid week evening with a bit of sport you’ve a passing interest in on tv can be a grand way to pass a few hours

A lot of middle age regret seeping through now in this thread. The ā€˜it’s all about me’ culture not exclusive to millenials too I see

Depends…Youd want to be selling lot of better wine and premium beers and spirits to make it pay

I would have thought so. Very hard to compete with Lidl and Aldi on low price generic beers and wine

Any of these types who give out about pubs are generally people who don’t fit in there.

They can also be seen eating vegan pancakes or discussing global warming with fellow wimps.

Its quite revealing alright, clueless doesn’t even come close, you’d nearly feel sorry for some of them
