The thing I can see happening that would put a spanner in the works is a surge in cases in October/November as winter rolls around. As it is at the moment there are big yellow signs and queue markings and hand sanitiser in supermarkets around the country and nobody gives a flying fuck. The pubs could open with all the social distancing guidelines in the world and very quickly the lines would be blurred. I think there would be very little appetite to enforce anything so long as the cases remain as low.
Different pubs have different commitements, be it to their customer base or their overheads. It might work for one but not the other. Charging for entry or a table turns them more into members clubs. Robbie Fox made a killing off this strategy one time before certain journalist types blew it up their noses
Iād happily pay a fiver to rent a seat at the bar
Any chance pubs will consider getting rid of the Sky box to save on costs for the first few months? I know Sky have frozen bills now but with the new setup Iād say theyāll be no more getting big crowds in the door watch a match.
Maybe theyāll get iptv. Like Iād love to. If only someone would stop ignoring me
What match?
The footix going ahead has thrown a spanner in the works. No way will pubs with sky but not food sit idly by while they watch pubs with sky and food get all the business. As things stand right now though all you need to do to open with the restaurats is invest in a toaster
Roughly How much tax is on a pint?
VAT alone is 23%, after all other deductions average margain usually comes to anywhere between 5% to 10% depending. Volume is key when it comes to draught, you need to be horsing it out
Be great to get the TVs out of pubs
Would you make more selling coffee?
Coffee wine and cheese
Thatās a seriously tight margin if youāre running a small establishment
My mate who told me couldnāt agree more
Publicans need to increase the price of a pint and introduce cover charges. We all need to pull our weight here.
If Liverpool havenāt got the league won by June 29th thereāll be thousands of irish footi trying to get in to have pub grub to watch the moment. Best of luck trying to police that
