Pubs opening

Nobody uses notes to take coke anymore ffs

You can interpret history any way you like if you join the dots to suit your own motives. Mostly what happens is just a bunch of random stuff that really means nothing

Not really. Some historical events like the JFK asssassination appear to be largely random acts, yet you could argue if the Russian Revolution hadn’t happened, Oswald would not have had the motive to shoot Kennedy. If the Wall Street crash had not happened, there would likely have not have been the rise of the Nazis and thus no World War II. Kennedy would probably never even have become president. The assassination of Franz Ferdinand was the key historical moment of the 20th century in that pretty much everything that happened after it flowed from that, yet that event itself was heavily influenced by what preceded it.

Exactly, you can argue what you like till the cows come home. There is nothing inevitable and little consequential about how we got to where we are but people take it for granted that history is following some linear route and join that with other such historic threadlines that make sence to their particualr worms eye view make sense to them. The truth is 99% of shit that happens is just random and reactive

99% of historical events are very much not random, they are reactive.

We’re into butterfly effect territory here lads. It’s not a good road to go down

History is the butterfly effect in action.

I’ll give @Lazarus the attempted assasssination of Ronald Reagan as a pretty random event, which didn’t end up having many consequences because Reagan survived. You can’t get much more random than trying to kill a US President to impress Jodie Foster.

That was clearly an inevitable consequence of Paul Schraders period of self isolation

There’ll be the biggest South Dublin exodus to the southeast late this summer…

The people of Dublin who’ve been locked into a virus hot spot won’t forget how they were treated over the last few weeks. Hopefully this is the end of the staycations. It’s very sad to see Irish people treat their own like that. Of course the state has history in this sort of thing. We surrendered the wee six in similar circumstances.

The pubs in Sweden are still open. Only table service allowed though.

Proper governance

We’ll be allowed that within a couple of months as well. That doesn’t help a lot of Irish pubs though with their size and our weather.

Your 22 or that mate. Grow up a small bit.

He has a point, Czech, Denmark, Sweden, even Spain all going back to work meanwhile here we are, twiddling our thumbs, with a taoiseach who’s too busy signing off letters to the Easter bunny

You need to be very careful when and where and what to drink in England. Far more so than in Ireland.
English pubs in towns are by and large awful places selling awful beer. Many seem to be filled with awful people.

Not been smart but why dont you move back to Ireland?

His wife won’t let him
