No, once the cable is patched correctly it should be fine, the 8 cables have to be in a certain order at each end.
Im not vv technically gifted ref modems etc but I only had one cat cable from the yoke coming in from outside ( siro) directly to the modem,but thinking back I didn’t try the shagging thing back to front

I was just talking generally. I don’t know the Robus kit at all. When I was looking at it some time ago and I looked at quite a few systems, I remember thinking it was a sort of hidden cost. It wasn’t plainly put to potential customers. My memory of this may be wrong but it looked like another £150 pa. I went with a DVR and have never had a problem with it.

If it’s a patch cable you should be able to compare ends. If one end is terminated in a patch panel you have to hope it’s patches at B for the panel pin layout and correctly at the other end, either in an RJ45 plug or another panel. A pair tester would tell you if they were or if some pairs are crossed.
I’m guessing here as I’ve no idea of when way your cabling is done.

That should be fine and backward compatible, but completely pointless as you’re plugging it into a 1Gb port that a catte would work on.

Yeah but I was advised to change cat cable (again) as VF siro keeps dropping, changed modems several times, engineers out etc etc, mostly it’s great but drops until I unplug modem etc

Does a VPN prevent this sort of tracking?
They should just be limited to seeing when you connect to the VPN, and what VPN, but not what access using it.
