Question for the techies

yeah I’ll give it a go later. I have 1.2.3 though, cant seem to be able to upgrade to 1.2.4 now though.

Didnt realise the skygo app doesnt work on rooted phones so hopefully this will do make up for that. skygo doesnt work on chromecast either for whatever reason. seems a bit short sighted by them.

I’d say it very deliberately doesn’t work with Chromecast. I assume to stop account sharing.

Is there an alternative to Show Box, where you can get “foreign” programmes, like the Danish / Swedish The Bridge, etc.

Pervert

yeah but they already limit it to 2 devices, so not sure why not allowing it to be chromecast compatable makes a difference. Especially if on a laptop or whatever you can just hook it up to a tv easily anyway. just seems odd. not sure why it wont work with rooted devices either, or why it would matter. anyway, matters little now, just it was a fairly useful app.

Great job altogether. Only started using it in the last couple of months. Very stable and plenty of streams available.

Any luck? It’s still not working for me, even on the newest version. Freezes after 5 seconds and then stops working.

didnt get a chance. got the latest update on it anyway. from reading online, it seems they are still in developmental mode with it, so at least they are trying to make it work.

Would you not just get a Sky subscription or rent from iTunes lads? Posts on this thread seem to go like:

X works for me, it’s class.

X worked for a while but has now stopped working for me.

You never seem to be able to rely on a decent service.

Peasants BT, peasants.

its in transition to a new format BT on this set up. I can get it working just fine on a screen mirroring set up, but the quality can improve if it goes direct from the app, so once it is fully developed it will work a treat. I already have high quality downloaded films going straight to TV with no hassle whatsoever. If you’re happy to fill Murdochs pockets with €850+ per year, then good for you.

Or just use torrents. Free and reliable (if you use a decent site like iptorrents).

Well said Rocko. Why waste the money?

Anyone ever use eLance?

Yes. A few times.

Depends on what you need to get done. Its fine for trivial stuff but if you are getting apps developed or any complex solution then be very careful and have an airtight spec.

Have you ever tendered for work on it KP?

I’m considering do a few extra contracts but I’m worried about how easy it is to have an invoice paid and sort out your tax properly.

I’d be the other side of the fence Croppy… Getting technical gurus like yourself to do work for me. Logos, Websites, Apps etc…

From my perspective it has worked really well. I don’t release funds until i am happy with the work and I am flexible to know I may not get exactly what I want so there is a little bit of give and take.

Its competitive out there though and getting your first few gigs and getting some positive ratings will allow you to increase your rates over time.

Like anything, he devil is in the detail. A clear requirements document saves lots of hassle.

Much appreciated KP!

I was given a present of a Chromecast today and it is set up now but only video will go to the TV and no sound. I have been having the same issue when I run a HDMI cable from the laptop to the TV for the last few months. Anyone got any ideas? @TreatyStones help a brother out?

I’ve tried sticking my thumb up my arse but that hasn’t helped.
