Turn the volume up.
I was given a present of a Chromecast today and it is set up now but only video will go to the TV and no sound. I have been having the same issue when I run a HDMI cable from the laptop to the TV for the last few months. Anyone got any ideas? @TreatyStones help a brother out?
I’ve tried sticking my thumb up my arse but that hasn’t helped.
Have you plugged it in to the wall as opposed to powering through a USB?
HDMI from a laptop might well only give you sound, that might just be a video out pot.
Have you a second HDMI port on the TV?

I have the Chromecast plugged into a power source and into the TV.
Looking for them now. TV is mounted to the wall-can’t see any but the port I’m in is HDMI3 so they must be there.
What are you trying to cast? Have you tried a few different things in case it’s an issue with a particular app? Also, have you changed to a different HDMI port if you have one as Habanerocat suggested?
Tried a couple of things youtube, etc from phone and laptop but no sound only video. Only one HDMI port.
Typical IT answer but have you tried plugging out the TV for a few minutes and then turning it back on with the chromecast connected?
this happened me recently
its fixed now
I fucking love you Runt.
You just can’t beat expertise like that. Delighted now so I am, fucking delighted.
The missus just asked me how I knew to do that. My friend from the internet told me I said.
I didn’t do four years in college for nothing.

I had the same issue with a chromecast I hadn’t used in a while today. At first it wouldn’t cast at all. Then I downloaded an update to the chromecast and then to Netflix. Got video then but no sound on netflix though I had the sound on YouTube. Switched the iPad on and off again and then I had sound.
Turn it on and off-the modern day equivalent of hitting the TV a slap. Works every time.
You’re not qualified to say that.
Is chromecast the best/cheapest way to wireless stream your ipad to TV.
You could probably buy a HDMI connector but I find them a pain.
