Question for the techies

I’m trying to access my registry to remove something causing an annoyance. I started windows in safe mode and typed regedit into ‘Start - Search Programs & Files’. All that comes up is something called ‘reg’ which i assume is it. However while it looks like it’s about to open something happens on screen in black with fast writing in white for a split second but it won’t open for me. Any other ideas how i can open the registry please gents?

Restore your computer you mong.

Regedit.exe is the typical method. There are other ways like opening it via command line or powershell.

Start > Run > Type in regedit

BE VERY CAREFUL IN THERE. UNLESS YOU ARE VERY SURE ON WHAT YOU’RE DOING, DON’T DO IT.

Agree 100%. Very careful.

+1 be uber careful.

If you don’t understand any lines in there just delete them. You’re better off only having the registry entries that you are comfortable with, rather than one bloated with lots of indecipherable gobbledygook.

I can’t see how Dunph deleting things from the registry could possibly go wrong. He is tech savvy.

A good rule of thumb. If you can’t open the registry, you shouldn’t touch anything in it.

I’m going in.

I think that’s what happened the Dunph

It’s better to just delete all registry entries and manually renter the ones you want. A nice fresh clean start.

Right change of plan i didn’t like what i saw in there and decided against deleting rows of items, but thanks for all the suggestions guys.

My computer is infected with something called omiga plus, anyone heard of it and have luck removing it? It sets itself as your default home page in all your browsers and it’s very hard to shake it off, also seems to have added an adware infection and fuck knows what else it’s doing.

Your some man to pick up a virus. How do you manage it?
Have you run MalwareBytes

I hope TT a least got a couple of good wanks in before the malware took over.

Can he not restore his system to last week and work back to a date when it was working fine?
