Secondly, I can’t stand mcafee. Always uninstall, do a sweep to make sure it’s gone, then put on Comodo Internet Security or something like that. I’ve installed Comodo GeekBuddy for Mrs. Moth so when I’m away on important international business, there’s a techy on stand-by to fix laptop glitches.
Its installed on most laptops because Intel bought McAfee in 2010. Even the mad fucker who developed it says its a piece of shit, but of course that was after he offloaded it.
Don’t think there was a shoot out as it was in Tennessee and he wouldn’t have survived that. He reckons he is a shoe in for president, given the competition maybe he’s right. Can just see it now, mad dog McAfee, muslim / mexican hating Trump and semi-concussed Hillary on a stage. America finally gets the president they deserve.
I haven’t done this in a while. WinAVI was what I used to use as far as I recall. Your best bet is to find the best commercial ones. Don’t be messing about with freeware and tools that do half the job. Get a nice package that does what you need and then get a torrent of that and use it that way (on a trial basis obviously. If you like it then buy it obviously).
Cheers for the advice Rocko. I’m not very well up on this, when I loaded the dvd in to the drive and opened it, all I’m seeing is an audio_ts and video_ts folder. Its not pirated stuff or anything, just some home dvd’s I want to store.
Yeah, that’s the structure of a DVD. Best thing to do will still be to use something like WinAVI that can copy them all into one video file for you and get rid of the chapters and separate menu files etc. DVD files are bloated and annoying to work with and not suitable for storing online. Just probably free alternatives if you don’t need to break encryption or anything but I’d still just find a good all-round commercial tool and use that.
I would use WinAVI (or something like that to rip). And then Windows Movie Maker or something to change the audio track. That’s really straightforward to use and it’s free (I presume it’s still free). There should be plenty of alternatives for that though.
@Esso_Oil - I use Audacity for this type of thing. Very nice and easy to use app. You can google “Export sound from Audacity into Movie maker” to get help with the next stages.
There’s something or other lurking on my laptop. Sometimes i get a message “It has been one week since your last system reboot. Would you like to restart now?”, something like that. But i didn’t reboot in a ages. Then my home page is changed when i open chrome to some other browser. When i run an AVG scan on the system i could get no threats now and in 30mins when i run it it will be something like “3 threats removed”.
I’m using google spreadsheets and to be in a spreadsheet you need to be signed in and your email shows up. I’ve got something private here, a spreadsheet, and there’s been an ‘anonymous dingo’ sitting in the page all day.
Any ideas what is best course of action here? Just get a new laptop?
