Where we all agree of the I’ll effects of smoking and ensuring information about the risks is needed outright banning it is bollocks. Leave grown adults make their own decisions and the state shouldn’t dictate individual lives
Over a billion a year collected in taxes on fags. A nice chunk of that goes to the HSE amongst other things. Smokers tend to die earlier as well so less of a drain on the health service in the long term. Poorer less educated people tend to smoke more as well but shur its for their own good to tax them in to oblivion.
No doubt a coincidence. They only have our well being at heart. To have someone as qualified as Reid running the HSE is worth every penny. He be off running go
By all means encourage people to quit or stop taking it up but when has prohibition ever worked. If you really wanted to avoid the high taxes currently levied on a box of fags you will find someone selling them for a third of the price but you know the money is going to criminals and more than likely have more harmful substances mix in. Look at the alcohol prohibition in the states and the current cannabis prohibition. What is a better solution
Still off them thankfully but I don’t agree with former smokers pontificating to those that still do and that goes for alcoholics who no longer drink also.
