Racism Continued

But wasn’t he always a complete and utter dick?

Fair point.

This is very much the rub of the issue. There will likely always be racist cops but there should never be openly racist presidents. If there happens to be, as now, it stands to reason his core racist vote will be emboldened. The increased violence and unrest we are witnessing is a direct consequence of this. I expect Trump to ramp up the rhetoric of hate the closer we get to the election and sadly I expect the usual suspects here will lap it up all the way

Great post. That’s the be all and end all of it really. Everyone needs to accept this as a starting point and move from there.

Can I just ask, what the fuck is going on in Galway? Aren’t those Enrique and Grapes loopers Tribesmen also?

When I go there all I see is lads with tea-cozies on their heads, banging pots and pans in the street and dancing a jig for peace. When I log on here Galway seems like Alabama.

Oughterard happened. People have planted flags in the ground

This shows that there is no correlation between Trumps rhetoric/tweets and police killings. You can see number killed by police during Obama administration and Trumps. They are on pace to have just over 1,000 police killings at current run rate (429 killed as of 10 June), their lowest in years.

I have always viewed Trump’s Presidency as an indication of just how rotten the political system is in the States. In that how in the name of Jesus would a self respecting party like the Republicans put forward a reality TV star with no political experience for the big gig in world politics?

I think everything that has happened subsequently, his election and his carry on, is somewhat predictable but for me the real failure was with the Republicans. And I don’t actually think they give a fuck.

Use the eyeball test mate.

I have never defended Trump, I defend the truth, something you and your sidekick there in Galway are allergic to.

Keep avoiding the central issue though, that it’s useless progressive liberal cunts (like yourself) who are in a position to solve these issues and have done nothing to solve them.

What statistics are you using that says being stopped by police is dangerous for black females in America? I’d tell anyone to not fuck about if stopped by the police no matter what country they were in, is there a country where you would advise the opposite?

Cops have zero ability to address social and racial inequality, that’s purely the responsibility of politicians, from local to national level.

Oh - so policy is spoken about and written down and nothing gets filtered to the cops?

There’s your problem then.

Yes, in Ireland I’d advise a young lady who is stopped by the cops to fuck about as much as she possibly can and she’ll probably get off without a ticket.

We have more visibility now because of social media, dash cam footage, more advanced phone technology. Police killings have always happened and it has little or nothing to do with Trump. I’m not sure the police in Atlanta on Friday were incited by hatred to act like they did.

Have a look at the US cities that have the highest levels of poverty, violent crime, murder, etc., who is running them and has been running them for decades. Use Baltimore if you want one example… or just read Thomas Sewell, he can explain it to you much better than I can.

The Republican party started going off the rails when they allied with the bible belt and gun lobby fruitcakes. The KKK are never too far away either. Throw in Fox News brainwashing and boom you have simpletons from Galway suddenly believing Donald Trump is the new FDR because Tucker Carlson told them so

I would suspect that this is right, that there are still racist police killings but a lot less than in previous decades.

Can you imagine footage that would have come out if the police had body cameras in the 1960s, there would have been another American Civil War.

Policies have utterly failed. Just one example, public education is massively funded per capita, but the results at national level are very average by international standards, and are absolutely appalling in many cities. The biggest structural problem by far is corruption, it is endemic in most US cities.

Which of these are Republicans vs Democrat?
