Heard a noise in the attic last night, like a scattering, went to investigate and spotted this outside at the eaves, something had borrowed out some insulation under a dodgy tile and got in, hoping it’s a bird but most likely a rat? Any idea what to do? Do I block up the hole and try to catch whatever it is with a trap or leave the hole open and try to drive it out with poison?
If the wife thinks there is a rat in the attic she’ll probably burn the house down.

Not good to see the hole beside a downpipe. Poison and traps when it is the attic. Can’t afford it to develop further.

We have a few mice over by the shed at the moment. One came out to say hello to me after I took the lawnmower out last week.
Harmless enough sorts. Or should I have them killed?
Could get a cat to clean them out. Advice is appreciated in advance.
