Made coq au vin last night based on a recipe that was in a Superquinn flyer. Almost a bottle of wine went in it which meant it tasted a bit boozy. Folks eating it thought it was decent but I’d lob a few carrots and mushrooms in it next time and thicken up the sauce.

There’s a recipe for something similar in Jamie Oliver’s book and it’s smashing. Well worth trying

200 should be alright… It’s as good as cooked at this stage anyway . If you really wanted to sex it up get a can of dry cider and pour 1/4 over going in and another 1/4 about 20 or so in.

Jaysis, I don’t know why I never thought to buy a ham before. Boiled it up with some onions and garlic and finished it in the oven covered in honey, black pepper and a little mustard. It’s bloody gorgeous.

How healthy is it to be eating ham every day for about 4 or 5 days? It’s there much nutrition to it or is it like having a fry up for dinner every day, health-wise?

I’m going having a prawn curry in about a half an hour with mushrooms and onions before Mania starts…

How do you mean, tc? This is a fillet of ham bought from the local butcher. I’ve no other details for it other than that it tastes fair nice.

Good Quality meat will do you no harm but lay off the ham for a couple of weeks now

I’ll be having another rake of it over Easter, the old man has a large one in the freezer. But sure I suppose I’ll be sated after that for a couple of weeks.

An unreal bit of siriloin steak just consumed about 15 mins ago. A few onion and mushrooms sauted on the side with some home made fries.

Washed down with a bottle of red that someone brought to the house yesterday, know fcuk all about wine but it definitly went down well with the steak.

All in all a great dinner.
