It was okay not brilliant. They’re hoping for a Michelin star but they won’t get one.
Left Bon Appetit after Oliver Dunne took over and prior to him getting the star and I said it was superb and in the bag. Le’crivain is consistently good. Relais & Chateaux was unreal. Best ever in.
Service tonight good but not Michelin. Lashed courses out with wine but rattled course details and headed away. That’s fine if a lump of steak with chips but not what they are trying to achieve.
Ambience - too bright. Was like Croke Park with the flood lights on. Was half expecting a telly in the corner to say Plan B.
Courses. - undecided. Some light sorbets were actually very heavy. Chief trying to be too different rather than being simple and flavoursome. Pigeon and Cod nice, didn’t taste the crab for all the cauliflower. Had the strawberries but didn’t need to go into the field. Didn’t bother with the second dessert cos I had a bit of personal.
I wouldn’t be rushing back to be honest.
