Bo Luc Lac (Vietnamese Shaking Beef)
Guaranteed to get you the ride.
Cut a pound of sirloin into 1 inch cubes. Marinate in 1Tbs soy sauce, 1 tbs oyster sauce, 1 tbs brown sugar, 5 cloves crushed garlic. Meanwhile make a salad. A few handfuls of salad greens, cherry tomatoes, a few slices of fennel of you can find it, a red onion, mint, basil, rocket. Make a vinaigrette with olive oil, rice vinegar, sugar and salt. Keep half the vinaigrette for a dipping sauce, Flash fry the beef in a wok, 1 minute, shake and 1 minute more. Fire the beef on top of the salad and encourage your guest to dip the beef into the dipping sauce.

That sounds fantastic. Fennel is a great salad veg - thinly sliced, it gives it a nice aniseed twist. Will give this a shot and give a blow-by-blow report of the results

Any recommendations for vegetarian options for xmas dinner? I’m thinking of a nut loaf / roast with wild mushroom gravy.

Tassotti is the expert on Vegetarian, I could advise on a good meatloaf though

Its a hoor for getting wedged in the teat of the babies bottle though.

Deserves a thread of it’s own that question.

C’mere to me, is cauliflower cheese fair ball for Christmas Day?

I think the veg is very flexible and completely up to yourself.
If it’ll be ate, then fire it out.

For dinner?

Salmon starter… Spiced beef will accompany everything else you’ve put down.

Smoked salmon with some creme fraiche on soda bread. Yummy.

Croquettes will be on ours. Top tack.

The mother in law does a mean sausage stuffing but has taken so many plaudits in the past that it now dominates the meal. That will have to be reined in.

@Horsebox’s starter will be had also.

Christmas pudding has all but vanished. Some form of cream and fruit dessert will be in place.

There’ll be some sort of pate for starter.
I’ll hit the market on Wednesday and see what they have on offer.

Mmmmmm sausage stuffing

Princess’ mother puts on a savage feed… There will be a choice of two starters and homemade pate on the table. For the main she has everything listed here but the Corkies have spiced beef also which is off the charts… her sausage stuffing and bread sauce are unreal. There will also be a choice of three desserts after it - crimbo pudding with custard, a cheese cake of some sort and a chocolate biscuit cake. Spiced beef and ham sambos then that night. Unreal.
