I’ve just had a savage lamb shank in hotel kilkenny. Never been impressed with their food til now. This was gorgeous. I love lamb shanks.
I’ve never heard of bread sauce.
Absolute peasant food.
You’re not missing much.
Just had the Christmas lunch at work. Stayed away from the Mushroom soup, had the T&H with a slice of spiced beef. Carrots/sprouts/shpuds/croquettes and a lash of gravy. Profitaroles and cream and a few mince pies to top it off. Washed down with a couple of mugs of tae! Fucked now
When made right it’s a fine accompaniment to the christmas dinner, pal. Needs large chunks of celery.
It’s bread and onions, with a few herbs in it. Mainly cloves. At least that’s the way they make it at home. Goes well with ham & to a lesser extent (IMO) turkey.
Christmas & Easter are the only two times it’s ever made at home.
How is it a sauce?
It says so on the packet
The market is open on a Wednesday? Is this just in the build up to Christmas or what?
I went in there one Sunday morning a few weeks ago and it was a ghost town, there were about four stalls set up none of which were selling food.
Yes, I think it’s on every day next week, not sure how many stalls will be there though.
@ChocolateMice I see your bird is selling sandwiches there on a Friday.
Which is his bird?
- The two girls are branching out, yes… They will probably stay with your man for a while but will probably jump ship once a spot opens up for them inside the market on Saturdays.
Neither -
The blonde one.
Me neither. Probably unsuited to the warmer climes of the south east.
Was never bothered about it until I made my own last year. It was very nice and is definitely back on the menu this year.
You probably know it as Blaa sauce.
