Yeah. Not always the case. But Martin or Varadkar made an issue of it a couple of years back that they don’t believe is should be done and they stuck to it. I don’t think they should have
It just adds to the perception of a dishonest campaign. That advice is/was available to all the cabinet but they prefer emotive scutter like “I don’t want to tell @Bandage’s kids they aren’t a proper family”
Can any of the TFK teachers confirm whether there’s been an epidemic of constitutional-based playground insults lately?
Apologies, I don’t follow FG on social media, I haven’t watched any debates on the referendum, even though I posted last night about McEntee destroying McDowell, & I haven’t read any articles on it bar a 500-word explainer on The Journal. I may very well be mistaken, @Raylan.
Is there a schism in the Greens or what? His own party have no post at all from Roderic on the referendum, which is a bit weird given his ministerial post, and barely a reference to him since Feb 2019
There is still a legacy of Hazel Chu and her allies being a bit distrusting of the main body of the party.
But Roderic is the most popular TD they have among members and TDs. I’d watch this space with him. They’ll need a new leader at a point and Roderic would be much more unifying than a Catherine Martin. Roderic would be more socially progressive than say Ryan (who is quite conservative in some respects) and maybe that’s not ideal for the FF/FG side of things.
Ultimately the Greens don’t get to control that much of the government agenda. They’ve had their influence on transport and the environment. But they’d have loved to have Roderic on Prime Time instead of Micheál Martin for example but they don’t get to decide that. So Roderic goes on the News at One instead.
